Mahjong, one of the world's oldest and most popular games, which some say originated in China as early as 500BC, is now played by people of all ages from across the world. In the last month, almost a million players from 215 countries, have played the game on the publisher's website.
"People have been asking for a mobile version of Mahjong for a long time", says Alx Klive, Founder of Affinity Media, publishers of the app and website. "We're happy to be finally releasing it in the US, for all our US players".
Original Mahjong(TM) takes the same simple, but confoundingly addictive gameplay, that has entertained millions on the website, and replicates it precisely for the iOS version. "We worked really hard to replicate the same gameplay and tile generation as the web version. We had to completely rewrite the game from scratch, moving from Flash, and it was much harder than we thought to keep the subtle difficulty aspects the same. It was also tempting to add bells and whistles, but a lot of apps make this mistake, and lose the essence of what made a simple game great fun to begin with." says Klive.
The game was initially test released in Canada and New Zealand last month. It quickly reached the Top 20 iPad Games in both countries, reaching No.2 in the Strategy category in New Zealand, and No.6 in the Puzzle category in Canada.
"We were surprised by the success in Canada and New Zealand. It's our first app, and we know it's really hard to break through all the 'app noise'. We collected 15,000 email addresses from users of our web version over the course of the last few months, and that really helped. Capturing people's App Store country via our web form, and going one country at a time in terms of marketing and releasing, has also been key to us as independent developers, allowing us to focus our efforts productively and sensitively on each region (and culture) at a time. For example in Canada we were able to draw on our Canadian roots (we cracked a joke about Poutine) and in New Zealand we referenced the cities where we knew we had lots of players already."

Liverpool, United Kingdom - Award-winning indie studio, Milky Tea has launched their long awaited kart racing game Coffin Dodgers in full and expanded their reach into the entertainment market. Coffin Dodgers has spent four months in beta after launching at San Francisco's GDC earlier in the year, winning more than 14,000 pre launch players and supporters around the world.
Coffin Dodgers is Milky Tea's second major direct to consumer product; a dark comedic Kart Racing game set on the mean streets of a 3D retirement village. Here you have to help save one of seven old retiries and race around an 3D open world on a "pimped-up" mobility scooter, battling the Grim Reaper who is out to harvest souls. The game is aimed at people who love animated TV shows like Family Guy, The Simpson's, and games like Mario Kart.
Besides the storyline and the open 3D world some of the unique features of this karting game include player-to-player combat and rag dog physics. Here players can actively battle and knock opponents from their scooters and get tangled up in epic crashes and mayhem.
It was one of the fastest games to succeed on Steam's Greenlight, where the community approves the games it wants to play before they can be released. Coffin Dodgers was approved in just 9 days with 5,000 yes votes and ended up as a top 100 Greenlight of 2014.
The game launches in full on 8th July 2015 on Steam and through its new relationship with Miami based Alienware, the game will be featured at Comic Con in San Diego between 9-12th July.

KeckWatch, which can be downloaded for free in the iTunes App Store, utilizes the massive amount of data collected by astronomers at the W. M. Keck Observatory to help users identify stars and planets, as well as offers them a glimpse into the eye of the twin Keck telescopes.
"Our work studying the stars advances the kind of scientific curiosity that has always been a part of Hawai'i's cultural heritage, from the ancient celestial navigators to today," said Steven Jefferson, Communication Officer for the W. M. Keck Observatory. "This app is fun, easy to use and offers a wealth of knowledge to every person who downloads it."
KeckWatch, a special version of the popular award-winning astronomy app Distant Suns, provides users with a handheld-planetarium, allowing them to turn their phone in any direction to see the stars and planets in their current positions, day or night. By altering the preferences in the app, users can explore the common names of these interest points, the constellations they are a part of, their role in zodiacal figures, their historical names, and even their Hawaiian star names. Other features can help users explore meteor showers and solar systems.
The app will also show users when the telescopes are on and in use by astronomers at the W. M. Keck Observatories, as well as where the telescopes are being aimed in the sky at any instant.
The W. M. Keck Observatory operates the largest, most scientifically productive telescopes on Earth. The two, 10-meter optical/infrared telescopes near the summit of Mauna Kea on the Island of Hawai'i feature a suite of advanced instruments including imagers, multi-object spectrographs, high-resolution spectrographs, integral-field spectrographs and world-leading laser guide star adaptive optics systems.

Forget edit/compile/link/run cycles. For certain kinds of coding, developers want to be able to switch between editing and running their code very quickly. When they make a change they want to see the results immediately. CPPlay enables exactly this type of workflow. Just edit the code and then press the Run button. Then press stop, edit the code, and press Run again. CPPlay was designed with learning and creative coding in mind.
CPPlay's interpreted environment will prove invaluable to C and C++ developers who are learning or experimenting with new techniques and want to avoid the normal lengthy compile/link/run cycle of compilers. CPPlay's interpreted environment offers developers the ability to work in a "Playground" type development environment, previously unavailable to C and C++ developers.
"Playgrounds are a new feature of Apple's Xcode development environment that allows developers working in the Swift language to enter code and immediately see the code run, and interactively make changes to the code as they progress. Sadly, Apple did not see fit to include a Playground feature for C and C++ developers. * The file format has changed: to import an older file, please create a new empty file and choose File->Import Older File... to have it converted to the new file format.
