Software and Computer System Company (SCSC) has released a new, high performance version of Scannerz for the Mac OS X operating system. The latest release, which is version 1.8 of the product, will allow much higher testing speeds, particularly for users of SSDs, RAID units, and other high performance devices, as well as those using the newly released Mac Pro's from Apple. The new release is available from the SCSC web site as of April 28, 2014.
Reston, Virginia - Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC, (SCSC) has released a new, high performance version of Scannerz for the Mac OS X Operating System. The new release, which is version 1.8, adds enhanced high speed scanning capabilities to the product. Scannerz is a hard drive, SSD, and system analysis tool utilizing advanced diagnostic algorithms developed by SCSC. It can be used to analyze not only the hard drives and SSDS, most RAID units, and Fusion Drives, but their supporting circuitry as well.
"The development of Scannerz dates back to 2010, and back in those days SSDs were relatively rare and the product focused primarily on standard mechanical hard drives," stated Bill Wagner, the company owner. "It became apparent to us when the performance specifications of the new Mac Pro were released that we needed to start looking at addressing the much higher performance characteristics of the newer technologies. Quite honestly, we didn't think we'd be releasing this as quickly as we did, but no sooner were the latest Mac Pro's released than one of our customers contacted us requesting a higher speed version of the product. Although we started implementing some of these changes back in version 1.7 of Scannerz, the latest version has been greatly enhanced performance wise and will allow SSDs and other high performance storage units to be tested by Scannerz by as much as three or more times faster. Although a fair number of hard drive users will not see such a drastic performance
increase, we've seen high performance SATA based internal hard drives show an increase in testing speed by as much as fifty percent."
"Using this new version of the product hasn't changed from it's previous release, but current users should notice decreased test times for storage units, and in some cases these improvements will be substantial. Testing a drive, SSD, or RAID unit is still quite easy, which is typically done by performing an initial test on a storage device, and if any problems are detected, just configure and run Diagnostics Mode tests on it. In Diagnostics Mode, Scannerz will perform a host of tests and identify the problem. For those suspicious of more complex problems, the interface and memory/system bus testing mode will allow a user to tell them whether or not the system or drive are really to blame."
All versions of Scannerz come bundled with FSE or FSE-Lite, Phoenix, and Performance Probe. FSE and FSE-Lite are file system event monitors that can track excessive file system activity and identify possibly rogue processes. Phoenix is an operating system extraction tool that can be used to create emergency boot volumes and perform basic cloning operations. Performance Probe monitors system activity, CPU usage, and memory usage, and may be of use isolating processes that are too resource intensive.
Current users of the product will be notified by the company in the next few days for update instructions. The update will be free for all current users of fully featured versions of Scannerz. Scannerz 1.8 for Mac OS X is fully supported by SCSC in the U.S. for registered users.

Power APP today introduces RamDisk for Mac OS, a new utility that can speed up a Mac up to 40 times and increases the lifetime of a Solid State Disk. RamDisk creates a virtual drive using the Mac's RAM. This virtual drive can be treated like any drive on the Mac - files and data can be stored, and applications can be installed and run on that drive. An image of this drive is stored on the SSD or hard disk of the Mac when it is shut down, and it is re-read at the next start up.

Power APP recommends using RamDisk for two types of applications:
1) Application that make extensive use of the SSD, executing a lot of writing cycles.
2) Applications where speed is important, that make you wait during completing a task.
Solid State Drives (SSD) are faster conventional hard disk, their mechanical counterpart, but since they are using flash memory for data storage, they have a limitation to the maximal number of possible write cycles. While this limitation is a fairly high number, some applications are shuffling data on the hard disk, and this process becomes more intensive as lower as the free space on the drive is. That means an increased number of writing cycles, which also means a decreased life span of the SSD.
According to Power APPs General Manager, Christian Schaffner, they developed RamDisk for internal use after killing several SSD before their expected lifespan. "We are using a bunch of MacBooks for several purposes, like iOS app development and picture editing. For better performance our MacBooks are equipped with SSD. And some of these SSD were dead way faster than we expected. We decided then to move the load away from the SSD to the RAM by creating a virtual drive in the RAM, installing applications directly in this virtual drive. This has two effects: Data shuffling is happening in the RAM and not on the SSD, increasing the speed drastically. Writing cycles on the SSD are heavily reduced, which increases the lifespan of the SSD. Now that we have been using RamDisk for ourself without problems we decided that this tool is ready to be sold."

Pfaeffikon, Switzerland - Power APP today is proud the announce the release of RamDisk for Mac OS, a new utility that can speed up a Mac up to 40 times and increases the lifetime of a Solid State Disk. RamDisk creates a virtual drive using the Mac's RAM. This virtual drive can be treated like any drive on the Mac - files and data can be stored, and applications can be installed and run on that drive. An image of this drive is stored on the SSD or hard disk of the Mac when it is shut down, and it is re-read at the next start up.
Power APP recommends using RamDisk for two types of applications:
1) Application that make extensive use of the SSD, executing a lot of writing cycles.
2) Applications where speed is important, that make you wait during completing a task.
Solid State Drives (SSD) are faster conventional hard disk, their mechanical counterpart, but since they are using flash memory for data storage, they have a limitation to the maximal number of possible write cycles. While this limitation is a fairly high number, some applications are shuffling data on the hard disk, and this process becomes more intensive as lower as the free space on the drive is. That means an increased number of writing cycles, which also means a decreased life span of the SSD.
According to Power APPs General Manager, Christian Schaffner, they developed RamDisk for internal use after killing several SSD before their expected lifespan. "We are using a bunch of MacBooks for several purposes, like iOS app development and picture editing. For better performance our MacBooks are equipped with SSD. And some of these SSD were dead way faster than we expected. We decided then to move the load away from the SSD to the RAM by creating a virtual drive in the RAM, installing applications directly in this virtual drive. This has two effects: Data shuffling is happening in the RAM and not on the SSD, increasing the speed drastically. Writing cycles on the SSD are heavily reduced, which increases the lifespan of the SSD. Now that we have been using RamDisk for ourself without problems we decided that this tool is ready to be sold."

The essence of the game is to guess and solve the missions, and also to achieve the highest score possible on each level by destroying the falling objects. Every accomplished level will get a one to three star rating, the best players being given the maximum rating. Chaff Cutter also features many interesting unlockable options such as: treasure box, diamond, or even a laser blade for an overall better gameplay, but be careful! There are hidden dangers on each level. Hidden bombs, torpedos, iceboxes and timed bombs will harden the player's deed.
The game has three important factors:
1) Discovery Missions:
In order to succeed in the game, you must complete 20 different missions wich take place on different levels. You will need some skills if you want to win this game. Some tasks prove to be more challenging than others, but with a bit of concentration and commitment, you can be the one to finish all of the existing missions in Chaff Cutter.
2) Stars:
Chaff Cutter allows you to gather a maximum of 3 stars on each level if you manage to do a flawless run. In order to be unbeatable, you will have to earn the maximum score on each level. You can pass the levels even at 1 or 2 stars, although you will need more than that to earn the highest score.
3) Coins:
The game features in-game coins wich can be used to unlock new skills, upgrades, objects and even new levels. You can get these coins either by earning them during gameplay or by donating a sum of money.
