MultiTouch Book for the iPad Breaks the Space-Time Continuum - Published on 09/05/14
Stephan J Harper's IN HIS IMAGE, a MultiTouch book for the iPad, is responsible for accidentally breaking the space-time continuum and suggests an intriguing possibility that might lead scientists to a better understanding of our universe. In this illustrated 'biblical' tale set in the not-too-distant future, the story depicts three characters, the Creator of the universe and two of His angels. A massive object, located 1.75 light years from Earth may be a 'rip' in the fabric of space itself.
Los Gatos, California - A MultiTouch book for the iPad (IN HIS IMAGE by Stephan J Harper) is responsible for accidentally breaking the space-time continuum and suggests an intriguing possibility that might lead scientists to a better understanding of our universe: a massive object, located 1.75 light years from Earth, perhaps made entirely of dark energy, may be a 'rip' in the fabric of space itself. The distant object also appears to be monitoring activity here on Earth.
The description of IN HIS IMAGE on the title's iBooks Store page states: "It's 'Jonathan Swift meets Richard Dawkins' in this illustrated 'biblical' tale set in the not-too-distant future." The story depicts three characters, the Creator of the universe and two of His angels, discussing the fate of Earth. High-resolution images from the Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes illustrate this picture book for older readers. "To the memory of Galileo, Newton and Einstein" reads the title's dedication page, providing the only link to the events of August 31st.
"The whole thing started six days ago," said Peggy Harper, wife of the author for the past 33 years. "Text messages related to the book started appearing on his monitor in the morning and continued throughout the day. By midnight, there were over 100 comments...and then nothing."
IN HIS IMAGE was published and uploaded to Apple's iBooks Store on November 30, 2012. In 21 months, the digital-stream would have travelled 1.75 light years, or just over 10 trillion miles, to reach the distant object receiving Earth's data transmissions.
According to Ms. Harper, the messages were outside any run-time program installed on the author's iMac. Turning off the computer had no effect and the messages continued. Following are some of the text messages received on August 31, 2014:
* "We find IN HIS IMAGE inconsistent with our understanding of Creation." - JEDP Pentateuch Select Editorial Committee.
* "The book is, of course, complete blasphemy. I agree with every word in it." - Mark Twain
* "I wish I had written this!" - Aesop
* "I didn't understand a word in it. Is it allegory?" - Plato
* "Unfortunately, the Truth, which the author ably states without ambiguity, is undermined by the simple-minded contention that his finely-detailed color drawings are to be taken for reality. It strains our credulity and mars an otherwise useful little volume." - St. Augustine
* "Logically flawless." - Aristotle
* "The astronomical observations are of special comfort to me; but the author must know that heresy always comes with a price." - Galileo
* "Yet another Jesuit education wasted." - Ignatius of Loyola
* "Although we find IN HIS IMAGE consistent with biblical teaching and Papal instruction, the author should be burnt at the stake, your Eminence." - Tomas de Torquemada, Grand Inquisitor
* "The author, in his tactful way, has explained many things; I pray that he makes few enemies." - Isaac Newton
* "A most charming diversion. The author is a fine moralist - and a blockhead for only charging a buck." - Samuel Johnson
* "I warned them nothing good could come from a free press. However, Marie and the little ones were captivated by the fanciful illustrations and are busy adapting the story for une petite presentation at the Palace Gala Jubilee one week hence. I am to play the lead role. Marie is so good with the children, the model of motherhood for a nation that adores her so." - Louis XVI
* "I am flattered that one of the angels is named after me." - Benjamin Franklin
* "This is precisely what I've been saying!" - Thomas Hobbes
* "The story is consistent with my deepest held convictions about mankind's place in the universe." - Charles Darwin
* "The omission of any reference to Kolub, an astral body of supreme significance in the Cosmos, disqualifies this book and its author from any serious consideration." - Joseph Smith.
* "Religion poisons everything." - Christopher Hitchens
* "The author has captured in his story a sense of my own frustration with the one remaining difficulty in all my work, an answer so elusive I fear it will never be fully understood. Gravity's a bitch." - Albert Einstein
* "Repent!" - John the Baptist
* "Save yourself!" - Jacob Marley
"It's all very mysterious and a bit unnerving," continued Peggy, who is letting the scientists figure it out while she takes care of her husband. "He needs rest. In all these years, I've never seen Stephan without anything to say. I love him dearly and am determined to get him back to work again."

Hanoi based Appota Corporation today announces the official launch of onClan 1.3.0, the first social media networking app that gives gamers all the tools they need to connect globally. onClan builds upon both the Game Center concept and the model of social networking. With a single, central place to interact, gamers can use text, voice and video chat, as well as record images and video of their gaming experience to share with friends and user groups.
Hanoi, Viet Nam - Appota Corporation today is proud to announce the official launch of onClan, the first social media networking app that gives gamers all the tools they need to connect globally. onClan builds upon both the Game Center concept and the model of social networking. With a single, central place to interact, gamers can use text, voice and video chat, as well as record images and video of their gaming experience to share with friends and user groups.
* Instantly message and share video or images while within any game or the app
* Instant auto-translate within chat feature connects gamers of all nationalities
* Retain friendships, independent of current social networks, regardless of what games you chose to play
No longer is there a need to use real-identity social networks to access games, nor does one have to create multiple user accounts across multiple platforms. The capability of messaging in-game or just within the app creates endless possibilities to share information, meet new people and retain friendships regardless of what one is playing. For gamers, both frequent and casual, the ability to interact with games in a much more profound manner means a better end-user experience, as well as numerous benefits to developers as well.
Why onClan is groundbreaking:
It's a situation many of us can relate to. We have played a game for a few months up to a year. Eventually we lose interest in it and decide to quit. However, all the relationships we have forged with fellow guild or clan-mates is now gone. No longer - irrespective of what one plays, those you meet and want to befriend can stay in your onClan social circles. The same Guild you had in Clash of Clans can now form in any game. The transfer of information and capacity to reach a group of in-game friends has never been easier. onClan nurtures the social aspect of being in a collective, creating groups of users with common interests - regardless of whether they are friends on current social networks or not. A genuine gaming community is now at our fingertips.
Although the idea of creating a connected world is as old as the Internet itself, with onClan and its powerful SDK, the cliche carries a lot of weight. Specifically, in the application's chat features, language is automatically translated based on a phone's ISP. With language no longer a barrier, gamers can truly link up with other gamers, everywhere.
Delve Deeper into Your Game:
Combining like-minded gamers into groups not only means greater interaction, but also facilitates the sale and purchase of in-game items. Developers too will have access to end-users, and be able to communicate much more effectively to answer questions, solve problems and disseminate information, promotions and rewards.
The platform will use the opportunity to maximize user engagement and consequently a consumers' lifetime value will increase. onClan can scan a device for all existing games and applications. Tracking a users' online footprint and understanding gaming habits and paying behaviors is beneficial in steering them towards appropriate game groups.
The casual gamer can discover new content based on their gaming history and what their friends play. Hardcore gamers will use the space as a way to read and showcase tips, tricks, information and accomplishments. Developers will have direct communication channels opened for them to their client-base and be able to precisely target users who are willing to pay for in-game content.
With everything and everyone under the same umbrella, Appota understands that there is a need for timely and effective service. As such, there is a customer care team for each group: gamers and developers.
Revenue model and Who We Are:
Revenues will come from game publishing (revenue sharing with developers who publish their games on the platform), revenue sharing through content distribution and advertising (all advertising and promotion activities that are carried out for the developer).

Where To? 7.0: iPhone local search app completely redesigned
A new article has been published at prMac.
Where To? 7.0: iPhone local search app completely redesigned - Published on 09/05/14
FutureTap today announces Where To? 7.0, an important update to its long-standing, popular local search app for iOS devices. Discover the best locations worldwide: Where To? finds the closest and best rated places to eat, shop, party, and relax. Now with a completely redesigned user interface, version 7.0 was completely rewritten and optimized for iOS 7 and 8. It is a paid update: existing users benefit from a 14 day introductory period.
Seefeld, Germany - Where To?, the long-standing, popular local search app gets a large update. The user interface was completely rewritten and optimized for iOS 7 and 8. It is a paid update: existing users benefit from a 14 day introductory period and may get the new app for $1.99 instead of $2.99.
What's going on here? If in need to know where the next optician, the next deli, or the next car wash is located the iPhone app Where To? can help. The app determines the location via GPS and lets the user choose from more than 2,200 search queries in more than 700 categories. In an instant the app lists all matches nearby. The results are visualized on a map or in a list sorted by distance.
First, the circular selection menu aids in selecting the main category for the search. Then, the user can drill down to the desired category with just a few taps. For each result the app offers a data sheet with detailed information. It displays the address and phone number and - if known - the business hours, the dinner menus, the homepage as well as user ratings and reviews.
Where To? 7.0 - What's new:
A lot has been changed in the new Where To? app. The user interface in Where To? 7.0 has been completely restructured and redesigned not only for the current iOS 7 but also with the upcoming iOS 8 in mind.
The extensive work requires a paid update. That means: Existing users need to purchase the new app again. For existing users and early birds an introductory period of two weeks is offered. In this time frame the app is available for $1.99 (instead of $2.99).
The new features in summary:
* Details: The details page is now seamlessly integrated with the map. That means the map is now always visible, at least in part.
* Separation of Reviews and Photos: Now there are three tabs on details pages: "Details", "Reviews" and "Photos". It's not required to open a sub page anymore. The new photos browser gives more room to the photos with larger thumbnails.
* New list view: In list views, single items can be swiped to the left to display contextual buttons. Categories and place results can be marked as favorites. For place results directions can now be opened more quickly.
* BMW ConnectedDrive: Where To? now also works together with BMW along with Mercedes-Benz and Audi. The place information can now be sent to BMW ConnectedDrive to transfer it easily to the BMW dashboard. The cumbersome manual adding of destinations in the onboard navigation system is gone.
* Pebble smart watch: Where To? is compatible with Pebble smart watches. The free Where To? companion app for Pebble must be installed. Then the watch displays the direction and distance to the destination. The iPhone can be kept in the pocket while going to the destination.
* New sharing options: Found places could always be shared via text message, Facebook, Twitter or email. When sharing via email the address is now attached as a Vcard for easy importing as a contact. If the recipient also has an iPhone destinations can now be sent using AirDrop as well.
Ortwin Gentz of app developer FutureTap: "We worked long and hard on version 7. We're especially proud of the various sophisticated animations, for instance when dealing with the new category wheel. It all adds up to a more fluid and pleasing user experience."
"Where To?" has been selected by Apple as iPhone App of the Week and is the winner of the "Best App Ever Awards" in the category "Best Travel App" for several years in a row. Apple selected the app under the five best navigation apps in iTunes Rewind 2011.
Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 7.0 or later
* 20.5 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Where To? 7.0 (20.5 MB) is now available for download on the App Store under the "Navigation" category. In the next two weeks it is available at the introductory price of $1.99. The normal price is $2.99. The old Where To? 6.7 product is discontinued and has been removed from sale. The free Pebble companion app will be available shortly, after a required Pebble firmware update is published.

* 20.5 MB
Pricing and Availability:
