Berlin, Germany - Independent developer, Mark Hessburg today is proud to announce the release of Captain Temporium 1.0, a classic shoot'em up arcade game developed for iOS devices and Apple TV. Unlike the original classic games Captain Temporium features 3D graphics, yet its gameplay is restricted to a 2D plane.
The game uses techniques like subtle changing the player's viewing angle to enhance the 2.5D experience based on the motion of the player's vessel. Nonetheless as a modern game Captain Temporium offers all those features like physically based rendering that you would expect from a state-of-the-art title today. The result is an all new fresh look for the original classic fun of the golden age of video gaming.
"I've took the original fun and simplicity of the typical early 1980s arcade style of gaming," said Hessburg, "and carefully transformed it into a modern game of the 21st century."
Gameplay follows a simple arcade concept: The player takes control of a futuristic jet and travels trough time to fight biplanes, warbirds, helicopters, jets, rockets and even UFOs. Each level ends with a final opponent (the boss) which is harder to beat than any of the other aircraft. The overall level of difficulty increases as the game progresses by increasing amount of enemies, the cloud cover and overall speed.
