Instaz Intelligently Enhances Photos With a Single Swipe

Instaz Intelligently Enhances Photos With a Single Swipe - Published on 05/25/20

Moscow-based development team Whatever Apps today announces Instaz: smart picture editor for iOS devices. The app's built-in artificial intelligence analyzes each photo and suggests complex edits, which now requires usage of several apps. Users just swipe photo designs and save ready-to-share photos or stories. Along with many user interface Improvements, version 1.5.3 sports new effects in grid, collage, love and art categories as well as minor bug fixes.

Moscow, Russia - Whatever Apps development team is proud to announce the release of Instaz, "swipe only" photo editor for iPhone and iPad devices. The app makes editing images as simple as a swipe of a finger. The app's built-in artificial intelligence analyzes each photo and automatically performs complex edits. It improves colors, composition and adds popular Instagram effects, such as frames, collages, dust, stickers and many others.

Instaz does away with the need to come up with a design and then apply photo effects one-by-one using several apps. (The developer's research indicates two apps are used on average to obtain the desired results in a photo.) Instead, a single swipe automatically performs creative edits.

"Like Tinder has changed the industry of dating apps, we want to change the process of creating eye-catching stories and photos for social media," says Whatever Apps CEO Ivan Abramov. 'Just swipe, we will do the rest' - that is the app's approach."

Instaz eliminates the problem facing non-designers spending long minutes on editing, only to come up with a result that is worse than the initial photo itself. Current editors require time consuming effort for a single Instagram post or stories.

"The app protects your privacy by performing all photo analyzing algorithms on the device. The app never sends the photos or any associated data back to us, we never see your photos," continues Ivan. "The more you use the app, the better the artificial intelligence understands your photo editing preferences, suggesting the best photo designs customized for you."

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
* Requires iOS 11 or later
* Compatible with iOS 13
* 185.1 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Instaz is free and is available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Photo and Video category. The free version has a limit of saving 1 edit per photo. Unlimited edit saves are available upon subscription purchase. Subscriptions are available as a convenient in-app purchase of $2.99 per month or $22 per year (A yearly subscription saves $14.00 USD).

Photo Libraries Migration to Luminar With Avalanche - Published on 05/23/20

CYME today announces the release and immediate availability of two new versions of Avalanche, the smart photo migration software for macOS with Machine Learning capabilities. Avalanche for Luminar brings the powerful features of Avalanche to those users who want to migrate their Aperture or Lightroom catalogs to Skylum's photo editing app: Luminar 4. Avalanche Unlimited is the ultimate migration tool. It features all input and output sources currently supported and will be updated regularly.

Montpellier, France - CYME today announces the release and immediate availability of two new versions of Avalanche, the smart photo migration software for macOS with Machine Learning capabilities.

First, Avalanche for Luminar brings the powerful features of Avalanche to those users who want to migrate their Aperture or Lightroom catalogs to Skylum's award winning photo editing app: Luminar 4. Luminar does not feature any import capabilities by default, making Avalanche for Luminar the natural solution for those looking to adopt Luminar's cataloging features. Avalanche for Luminar features the same ease of use and migration capabilities Avalanche is renowned for.

Second, Avalanche Unlimited is the ultimate migration tool. It features all input and output sources currently supported by CYME and will be updated regularly. Avalanche Unlimited lets you currently migrate to Lightroom or to Luminar, but CYME has already announced that Capture One support is on the way and will be added later this year.

All variants of Avalanche are designed to convert catalogs of photographs from one source application to another while :
* keeping the organizational structures as intact as possible,
* guaranteeing full migration of all annotations, tags, keywords, ...
* ensuring migrated images take into account the adjustments that were done in the source catalog.
* Avalanche uses advanced Machine Learning to find the settings that best replicate the original look of the image.

"Avalanche for Luminar is the missing solution that was anxiously awaited by Luminar users." says Matthieu Kopp, CYME co-founder and CTO. "We are delighted to add Luminar as a supported destination for your catalogs and will ensure we do the best metadata and adjustments conversion possible, as Luminar's features evolve. On the other hand, Avalanche Unlimited fully delivers on the promise to move all our images with metadata, organization structure and adjustments between a growing list of editing application. It is the best version of Avalanche giving its users a much wanted freedom of choice."

Avalanche Unlimited, with its support for reading from a variety of different catalog types, and its deep understanding of the data inside those catalogs, lays the groundwork for the future main product of CYME. "We are focused on the organization and navigation in large quantities of images, while leveraging the powerful editing features of those great apps we integrate with." says Claudia ZIMMER, CYME's CEO. "We want to build a totally new experience around our photos. Avalanche is only the beginning."

Features Include:
* All intuitive and modern interface to access all the catalogs.
* Analyze the content of the catalogs prior to conversion (masters, versions,...)
* Keep track of the converted catalogs, their locations, their source.
* Launch the source or destination app from within Avalanche.
* Full support for migrating masters, versions, both for pictures and videos.
* All annotations (all IPTC fields), keywords, face detections are fully migrated (subject to the limitations of the destination format)
* All collections, albums, sets, stacks, projects are fully migrated. Avalanche will try to replicate the organization features present in the source catalog.
* Full support for images on offline volumes.

Migration enhanced by Machine Learning:
* All standard edits (white balance, light, color) are migrated using ML in such a way that the image will look the same in the destination catalog.
* Black and White conversion is fully supported using ML for a higher fidelity.
* Safety and security: Avalanche will never modify your source catalog + all the catalog and image processing is run locally.

System Requirements:
Avalanche for Luminar and Avalanche Unlimited require macOS 10.14 or later and run fine on Catalina. Avalanche is compatible with Aperture catalogs from version 3.6, Lightroom catalogs from version 7, and Luminar catalogs from version 4.2. You need around 145 MB of free space, 4Gb of memory (8Gb recommended) and enough space to accommodate the converted libraries. A working copy of Apple Aperture or Lightroom is not required to migrate libraries as Avalanche opens those libraries natively.

Pricing and Availability
Avalanche for Luminar is $59 USD and is available exclusively through the developer store. Avalanche Unlimited is $119 USD and is available through the developer store. Review codes are available to qualified journalists upon request.

RationalPlan 5.5 Adds Kanban Board for Agile Project Management Needs - Published on 05/21/20

RationalPlan 5.5 brings a major change to its way of managing projects. Although the product is best suited for the traditional waterfall project management methodology it can also be used for agile projects. Further more, starting with current version, it improves the support for agile project management with the newly added Kanban board.

Craiova, Romania - RationalPlan 5.5 brings a major change to its way of managing projects. Although the product is best suited for the traditional waterfall project management methodology it can also be used for agile projects. Further more, starting with current version, it improves the support for agile project management with the newly added Kanban board.

RationalPlan is a project management software suite that is available either as stand alone products or as a cloud service. It is used by individuals and by companies that need a solution to manage their work in an efficient way.

Features added for RationalPlan 5.5

* Added Kanban view for agile project management
* Added color settings for tasks
* Added Info column within Gantt view
* Added roll over icon in Portfolio view
* Improved support for importing MS Project .xml files
* Added "Go to Start" action for tasks on the contextual menu of Gantt grid

Current version put the accent on improving the web interface. The biggest change was the addition of a Kanban board for those users that are working with an agile project management methodology. The basic working cycle for managing tasks is pretty straightforward. New tasks are added in the To Do list. Once you start working on a task, drag it over the In progress list. When it gets completed just move it to Done list.

Gantt chart also got new visual features. Users can now set different colors for task bars depending on the structure type (leaf, phase, project or milestone), completion, status (critical, late, having a deadline) etc. Also an Info column was added to the Gantt table. It offers rapid insights for every task: if it is completed, or has a date constraint, deadline, notes or comments. Within the contextual menu a "Go to Start" action offers a quick way to focus the chart on the start date of the selected task.

A roll over icon was added to Portfolio table. This way users have a fast access to a contextual menu. With the "Open project in Gantt" action they can focus on a given project by directly opening it within the Gantt view.

Current version also comes with improved support for importing Microsoft Project files.

RationalPlan is offered in two flavors:

RationalPlan Cloud - a monthly payment project management solution offering a centralized place to manage the company's projects while offering collaboration through concurrent access for multiple users; a Free tier is also available

75% of All Smartphone Thefts in The UK Are iPhones

A new article has been published at prMac.

75% of All Smartphone Thefts in The UK Are iPhones - Published on 05/22/20

Essex-based insurance company loveit coverit have produced unique data looking into smartphone crime. The data offers a unique insight into the frequency of smartphone thefts and the most densely targeted locations, based on the number of claims that are made each year.

Essex - Your smartphone is likely to be a valuable device, particularly if you've got one of the latest models. As such, thieves regard it as a desirable item, and they'll do their best to get their hands on it.

But what has the impact been for individuals? Mobile technology has advanced so much that we can implement first-class security measures, but nevertheless the price of these technologies makes them all the more desirable to criminals. loveit coverit examines data to investigate whether mobile phone theft is a modern-day crime wave.

Based on loveit coverit's independent smartphone theft claims data, the research identifies London and Essex are most at risk. The data pinpoints London contributing 10% of all theft claims with 1 in 15 occurring in East London postcodes and 1 in 10 occurring in West London. A prominent reason for this could simply be that East London has a larger total population than the western postcodes, which would account for the disparity in apparent smartphone thefts. Essex also proved to be an unlucky location for mobile phone devices accounting for 7.5% of all insurance theft claims.

Data from the wider United Kingdom shows that only 5% of phone insurance claims are for theft, suggesting that 1 in 20 smartphone owners have their device stolen each year. When compared with the statistics in London, this suggests that phone users are twice as likely to have their personal property stolen in the city than anywhere else.

In terms of smartphone models, the data also indicates who might be most at risk. Looking at the entirety of the UK, 68.6% of stolen phones are iPhones. This shouldn't be a huge surprise as the iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones in the country. The second most popular smartphone model in the UK, Samsung, accounts for only 20% of all smartphone thefts.

In 2019 those most at risk of phone theft are adults between the ages of 25-35. According to the research, this age group accounted for 14.9% of all phone thefts from a person. This could be due to the fact that this age group are more likely to have expensive phone models. 1 in 10 mobile phone thefts were committed against children under the age of 18, with 14-17 year olds being the most at risk.

Toby Stubbington, Managing Director of loveit coverit, commented: "In recent years loveit coverit has seen a stark rise in the number of mobile theft claims made in London and surrounding areas. Daunting as it may be, this data exemplifies why purchasing insurance is such an important element of phone ownership as our mobiles are often a costly possession that we cannot afford to lose. Outside of insurance, individuals can guard against phone theft by educating themselves on common safeguarding measures."

It's estimated that between 3-7% of all reported crime is made up of theft from a person. Stealth stealing is still the most prevalent form of smartphone theft. Sneaky thieving from the person accounts for 50 to 60% of cases. Snatch thefts only account for 10 to 20%. However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't protect yourself against this type of crime. This is especially the case if you're using your phone on a busy street, for example, where a criminal can easily grab the device from your hand whilst you're talking.

Whilst the physical theft of smartphones is an evident and pressing concern, it is also vital that we consider the ways in which we can safeguard ourselves against cybercrime.

David Emm, Principal Security Researcher of Kaspersky, a provider of security and threat management solutions, commented; "In our current digital world, the threat of cybercrime is ever-increasing. At present, our records identify the most prominent threat to be that of mobile banking trojans as they cause many individual's direct financial loss. Alongside this, we can also identify the two biggest threat categories to be adware and riskware - a major element of these threats being 'stalkerware."

Emm added: "The programmes used survey victims, monitor their activities as well as track their movements. Unfortunately, the number of detections for these programs have risen substantially; from 40,386 in 2018 to 67,500 in 2019. Although many individuals invest in anti-virus protection for their computer or laptop, mobile phone protection is often neglected. It is our view that the government should be taking more proactive measures, such as utilising mass public advertising, to inform the public of such risks."

Experiencing a theft is one of the disrupting things that can happen to a person, and the theft of a smartphone is just as invasive and damaging. With those in urban centres more at risk than others, it's important that you know how to protect your belongings, whether you're out and about or simply at home.
