Corpus App v3.0 Free for iOS Devices enables story collaborations

A new article has been published at prMac.

Corpus App v3.0 Free for iOS Devices enables story collaborations - Published on 04/30/14

Hadokoa today announces Corpus 3.0, an update to their social networking app for iOS devices. Corpus enables the writing of a single story by many people. Users can browse and download stories. These stories can be read while a registered member can create and collaborate on other stories. Collaboration involves reserving the story for set time period. This update places focus on the member by introducing profiles and better management of your collaborations.

Athens, Greece - Hadokoa, maker of focused mobile applications, today is proud to announce the release of Corpus 3.0, a new update to their social networking app for iOS devices (iPod touch, iPad, iPhone). Corpus is an application that provides a collaboration environment for more than one author to contribute to a single story. Corpus's vision for stories was born from two areas namely social awareness where people form social networks in online places and online multiplayer gaming with emphasis on team collaboration. Merging these areas and applying them to story writing has given birth to Corpus.

The new version (v3) is focused on emphasizing the social networking nature of the vision by providing a clearly defined member area that allows the member to manage their story writing, their profile and to collaborate easily with other members. Corpus carries out its vision by providing the following full feature set:

* Browse and Search the online library
* Download a story for reading or contributing
* Create a story
* Add reading and contribution permissions when creating a story
* Share the story with friends and associates
* Editing and reading the story is done naturally like turning a page through a book
* Reserve a story for contribution
* Reminder about reservation
* Be notified when there are updates to a story
* Flag a story if you are not happy with the content
* Rate a story
* Make a story personal, e.g. like a diary
* View each individual contribution to a story
* Customize how the story appears
* Can be used in both landscape and portrait modes

Users can download a story (without registering) from the latest or popular listings or by searching story titles and content. Users can view from these results, various characteristics about the story, e.g. the number of contributors, date of the last content addition, ratings and the number of views/downloads of the story. Once the story has been downloaded to the user's personal library it can be viewed in a book-style format. The user can query who has contributed which content visually.

A story can be rated so that other members can decide on whether it is worth reading or contributing. A user who registers can reserve the story provided they have the necessary permissions or editing has been set to public. A reservation is for a limited time as to ensure no one member blocks the progress of a story. A reminder is sent out once the halfway mark in the reservation has been reached. Corpus will automatically cancel the reservation if the reservation period has been exceeded and the member has not published their addition.

The new member area in Corpus provides a number of sections of useful information such as the stories created, the stories contributed to and stories that they have been given personal editing access by the creating author. Additionally they can view with which members they have collaborated on the same story. A profile page is provided for the members to record their preferences and so as to allow better retrieval of suitable collaborators when creating a story.

Creating a story is as simple as selecting the title, adding reading and writing permissions and choosing with whom to collaborate or to not collaborate at all. This allows customization for the following permissions:

* One member can write, and everyone can read
* One member can write and only one member can read (effectively like a diary)
* Everyone can read and everyone can write

The member has unlimited time to publish the first content of the story. Corpus does not interfere with the actual content in a story and it is up to the members to flag a story as having inappropriate content. Once a threshold has been reached the content is automatically removed from the story. Various administrative tools are provided as to provide a one-point access to the Corpus platform through the mobile application.

Corpus provides a friendly and useful environment for story collaboration. Marios Moutzouris from Hadokoa summarizes, "Story writing should not only be in the realm of a single author because the limit to a story can be the world's imagination.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 5.1 or later
* 30.9 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Corpus 3.0 is Free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Social Networking category.

Pocket Mariner has launched the Mac OS version of its popular SeaNav charting and navigation app. With SeaNav, Mac-using boaters can explore, plan and navigate their trips in real-time. SeaNav shows ship positions via Pocket Mariner's real-time worldwide internet AIS feed. Sailors using SeaNav on their Macs will enjoy plotting their courses using full color high-resolution graphics of the latest NOAA ENC Digital Vector Marine charts covering the USA, including the Great Lakes.

Wales, United Kingdom - Pocket Mariner has launched the Mac OS version of its popular SeaNav charting and navigation app. With SeaNav, Mac-using boaters can explore, plan and navigate their trips in real-time. Sailors using SeaNav on their Macs will enjoy plotting their courses using full color high-resolution graphics of the latest NOAA ENC Digital Vector Marine charts covering the USA, including the Great Lakes.

SeaNav brings 21st century marine navigation to the Mac, enabling sailors to plot courses easily and smartly and helping make quicker and better informed decisions. The app uses the latest Digital Vector charts, which provide a wealth of benefits and advantages over raster charts. Details, distance and bearings of buoys, lights, bridges, depth contours, depth soundings, rocks, anchorage areas, NOAA weather buoys and other boats are just a mouse click away. Other useful information easily accessible in SeaNav includes tides, moon and sun times and weather.

Users can also connect a GPS unit to their Macs and watch as their boats move along in real-time on the chart and check SeaNav's Sailing HUD for their current position, Course Over Ground (COG), Speed Over Ground (SOG), Vector Made Good (VMG), Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), Distance and bearing to next Waypoint. The app produces an alert when the vessel reaches each waypoint, plus provides auto-routing to the next waypoint. SeaNav supports external GPS via USB, Bluetooth and Wifi. SeaNav shows ship positions via Pocket Mariner's real-time worldwide internet AIS feed. SeaNav can also display AIS data from an onboard VHF AIS device via serial or WiFi.

A GPS is not required to work with SeaNav's charts. Once a course is plotted on the Mac, it can also be taken out to sea by sharing it with the mobile version of SeaNav on iPhone or iPad. Using SeaNav for Mac in conjunction with the iOS version creates the perfect marriage of large-screen route planning and 'on-the-go' usage on a mobile device.

Device Requirements:
* OS X 10.9 or later
* 9.0 MB

Pricing and Availability:
SeaNav 1.0.1 for Mac is available from the Mac App Store in the Travel category for $19.99 (USD). The US version for iPhone and iPad is available for $9.99. A free version for iOS is also available, with charts for the USA and Europe available via In-app Purchase.

CityHour Takes Aim at Tinder and LinkedIn With New Round of Funding

A new article has been published at prMac.

CityHour Takes Aim at Tinder and LinkedIn With New Round of Funding - Published on 04/30/14

TrueBear Corporation's successful launch of its CityHour app promises early advantage over anticipated competitors such as Tinder and also does what the LinkedIn apps do not: arrange in-person meetings. CityHour ensures you connect to people with similar business interests and goals. On the heels of being honored at the MacWorld Innovation Showcase and seeing its user base grow by more than 600% over the past two months, the company announced its seed round of financing seeking a total of $1.5M.

San Jose, California - Following the successful launch of CityHour, its innovative business networking app that has experienced a 600% surge in users over the last two months, TrueBear Corporation today announced that it has opened its seed round of financing and is seeking a total of $1.5M. Initially backed with an Angel investment of $500K, CityHour has raised the standard of what business networking apps should do. In fact, a panel of experts at the recent Macworld/iWorld selected CityHour for their Innovation Showcase which featured only the best new products at the show.

Said Alex Lubinsky, Founder and CEO of TrueBear: "We believe the LinkedIn apps are a basic expansion of collecting contacts without the ability to truly connect via face-to-face meetings and as such, have missed a significant opportunity. Other social discovery companies like Tinder who have expressed interest in expanding into business networking may find it extremely challenging to go from the purported promiscuous to the professional."

Developed exclusively for arranging face-to-face business meetings - a critical inability found in competitive apps - CityHour fills a tremendous need as business professionals and job-seekers look for effective networking tools in a slow-moving economy. CityHour quickly syncs with your LinkedIn or Facebook account, and a customizable set of search criteria ensures you connect to people with similar business interests and goals. It can even find a nearby venue in which to meet.

Adds Lubinsky: "Our biggest growth has come from users located in the major U.S. business hubs, but we're also excited by the promising results coming from Europe and Asia. With this round of financing, we hope to quickly accelerate user acquisition and firmly establish CityHour as the premier business networking app on the market."

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 7.0 or later
* 12.0 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Free to download and free to use, CityHour 1.2 is available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Social Networking category. Versions for iPad and Android scheduled for later this year.
