Pterosaur Design announces Doppler Ball 1.2, an update to its retro-style, action arcade game for iOS devices. A modern interpretation of classic paddle-style games from the 1980s, Doppler Ball uses 3-D sound and graphics to simulate what a game of racquetball might look like if the ball were moving at close to the speed of light. With fully spatialized, 3-D sound, the game makes excellent use of the new iPhone 7 stereo speakers.
Washington DC - Pterosaur Design is pleased to announce the release of version 1.2 of Doppler Ball for iOS, the important update to its retro-style, action arcade game for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. A modern interpretation of classic paddle-style games from the 1970s and 80s, Doppler Ball challenges the player to use a humming, hyperactive ball to knock down blocks and clear levels. The game features immersive sound and visual effects that simulates what a game of squash or racquetball might look like if the game ball were moving at close to the speed of light. With fully spatialized, 3-D sound that is an integral part of game play, Doppler Ball makes excellent use of the stereo speakers of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Doppler Ball gets its name from the "Doppler effect" which describes the fact that the frequency of light or sound emitted from an object depends on the object's velocity relative to an observer. The Doppler effect explains why the pitch of a train whistle grows higher as a speeding train approaches and then drops once the train passes by, Using a sophisticated physics engine and spatial audio processing, Doppler Ball simulates this effect by adjusting the color and pitch of the game ball as it moves towards or away from the player. The result is a highly immersive environment that conveys important visual and audio cues to the player about the position and speed of the ball.
Game play takes place within a series of three-dimensional tunnels containing blocks arranged in increasingly complex patterns. By dragging a finger across the screen, the player must position a semi-transparent paddle in order to prevent the game ball from bouncing out of the tunnel. The goal of the game is to eliminate all of the blocks in a level before running out of balls. Most blocks simply explode when hit by the ball, giving the player points, but some blocks confer advantages or disadvantages such as a larger or smaller paddle. Because the direction the ball bounces depends, in part, on the motion of the paddle when it connects with the ball, experienced players can effectively direct the ball toward power-ups and away from penalty blocks.
Doppler Ball is distributed using a shareware model. It is free to download from the iOS App Store in all territories. The "Classic" game, which includes four levels and one type of power-up, is fully playable, add free, and should provide players with hours of entertainment. For players interested in an additional challenge, the "Excel" game can be unlocked with a one-time, in-app purchase of $0.99 (or equivalent local currency). The Excel game includes eighteen unique and highly replayable levels and a variety of power-up and penalty blocks that affect the speed of the ball, the size of the paddle, and scoring.

Doppler Ball also supports Apple Game Center, allowing players worldwide to compare score rankings, unlock achievements, and challenge one another to accomplish in-game goals.

Doppler Ball for Apple TV promises to turn the living room into a virtual racquetball court. Employing the same great physics engine and game mechanics as the iOS game, Doppler Ball for Apple TV will feature head-to-head multiplayer game play using the Siri remote's motion-tracking capabilities.

eBay, Australia's largest marketplace and iconic Australian retailer, Myer have joined forces to provide a glimpse into the future of shopping by developing and launching the world's first Virtual Reality (VR) Department Store. The app has been developed by Australian brand activation agency Traffik. eBay VR Department Store 1.0.25 combines eBay technology with amazing products from Myer and features more than 8,000 products, all updated in real-time.
Sydney, Australia - eBay, Australia's largest marketplace and iconic Australian retailer, Myer have joined forces to provide a glimpse into the future of shopping by developing and launching the world's first Virtual Reality (VR) Department Store. The app has been developed by Australian brand activation agency Traffik.
Throughout the VR experience, Australian customers can browse more than 12,500 Myer products and they can be selected and added to cart using eBay Sight Search(TM). The Virtual Reality Department Store connects to the existing eBay API (Application Programming Interface) and allows Myer's product range, pricing and stock information, to be updated in real time which is a first for virtual reality experiences globally.
From today, eBay and Myer are offering customers the opportunity to receive their own shopticals (specially designed virtual reality viewers) to start their VR shopping experience. 15,000 shopticals will be available free of charge.
Steve Brennen, CMO and Senior Director of Retail Innovation, said: "eBay has always been in the business of predicting the future of retail, and most importantly creating it. With the world's first virtual reality department store, we have challenged ourselves to build an exciting and engaging experience that makes browsing and selecting products easier than ever before."
Sydney residents and visitors will also be able to experience the VR Department Store by booking their place at a special exhibition at the Harbourside Room in Sydney on Thursday 19 May and Friday 20 May. Places can be secured via Eventbrite. Australians can simply download the eBay VR Department Store app on their smart phone, and insert their phone into the shopticals with the app open to start their virtual shopping experience.
"We're making this technology accessible to all Australians with our giveaway of 15,000 shopticals. Their insights and feedback will be invaluable to us as we look to the future of VR and build out experiences that take retail to the next level," Brennen added.

FrozenPepper announces Radar Commander 1.03, their entertaining game for iOS devices. Radar Commander mixes good old Missile Command with ATC (Air Traffic Control) and Tower Defence games. As an advanced radar operator players will have to monitor their instruments and respond to threats accordingly. Pisa, Italy - FrozenPepper is proud to announce the release and immediate availability of Radar Commander 1.03, their entertaining game for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. The game tries to mix good old Missile Command with ATC (Air Traffic Control) and Tower Defence games.
As an advanced radar operator players will have to monitor their instruments and respond to threats accordingly.
With 3 different weapons to handle and many power ups, players will have to manage shooting angles, target identification and priority and many other aspects of modern warfare. A simple and elegant GUI together with an immersive soundscape will provide the ultimate experience.
Each of the 3 main weapons has completely different characteristics and uses :
* 1 CIWS (Close-in Weapon System) : Short range but highly effective, player has to orient it towards incoming threats and system will handle enemy destruction automatically once in range.
* 2 Long Range Missiles : Long range, can track and shoot to up to 3 targets contemporarily. User has to orient it, select wanted targets and press a fire button. Missiles will hit both friendly and enemy targets, so operator has to be careful before pressing the fire button.
* 3 Artillery : Very long range but slow to orient and with limited angular range. Player simply double taps inside it's area of effect and a high speed explosive projectile will be shot. Deals a large area damage so it can clear large fleets of enemies but always check for friendly or civilian targets where you will shoot.
Supply planes will then drop power ups that user can store and use at best time. Among the power ups there are some that will increase the main weapons range and speed, as well as bring more powerful ammo to them (Artillery can get a Nuclear shell power up that can obliterate large portions of the sky). Friendly fighter support will also show up during combat providing further assistance to player.
