Pocket Agronomist brings Machine Learning and AR to Agriculture - Published on 08/02/18
Pocket Agronomist is now available for free on the iOS App Store, applying machine learning and augmented reality to common problems in agriculture. Using a trained convolutional neural network, Pocket Agronomist can diagnose corn diseases in realtime from iPhone or iPad camera feeds and show you where those diseases are on a leaf. With the aid of ARKit, the locations of plants in a field can be precisely measured to automate the process of gathering crop statistics.
Middleton, Wisconsin - Agricultural Intelligence today announces the availability of Pocket Agronomist on the iOS App Store, an application that uses convolutional neural networks and augmented reality to diagnose crop diseases and perform automated stand counts. Pocket Agronomist is currently free.
Pocket Agronomist is a crop scouting application designed to support growers, agronomists, field interns, and other agricultural professionals tasked with monitoring crop development and field conditions. The application uses augmented reality and convolutional neural networks to perform two common crop scouting tasks: stand counts and disease identification.
Unlike other crop scouting applications requiring manual data entry, form fill-outs, checklists or hierarchy trees, Pocket Agronomist automates the stand counting and disease identification processes, allowing you to simply point your iPhone or iPad camera at the crop and begin receiving insights.
In place of time-consuming manual measurements for plant distance, Pocket Agronomist makes gathering stand count statistics easy with the aid of augmented reality. You simply aim your camera at the ground near a plant and tap to locate it. As each plant is identified in a row, their real-world locations are tracked, shown in a live 3-D overlay on the camera feed, and the distances between them precisely measured. When done, the application automatically calculates the following stand count metrics: the total number of plants within the count, the average distance between each plant, the standard deviation of the count, the estimated plant population based on the count, and an estimated yield loss resulting from uneven spacing. These results can then be averaged with other stand counts from within the same field or sent to the appropriate parties for further reporting.
In addition to stand counts, Pocket Agronomist utilizes high-performance convolutional neural networks to diagnose and localize crop diseases from live camera video. Using leading edge object detection techniques, crop diseases are detected and diagnosed in real time when you point your device at a plant. You don't have to line up for a perfect photo or upload anything to a server, a labeled box will be drawn around any disease detected in the live camera video. All analysis is performed on device and in real time, allowing the application to function in regions without data connectivity (a common situation with remote farm fields).
Currently, Pocket Agronomist is trained to identify 12 foliar corn diseases and man-made anomalies prevalent in the United States, including: Anthracnose Leaf Blight, Bacterial Leaf Streak, Common Rust, Eyespot, Goss's Bacterial Wilt, Gray Leaf Spot, Northern Corn Leaf Blight, Northern Leaf Spot, Physoderma Brown Spot, Common Smut, Southern Rust and Urea Burn.
Device Requirements:
* iOS 10.0 or greater
* iPhone 5S, iPad Mini 2, iPad Air, iPod touch 6th generation or better for disease diagnosis
* iPhone 6S, iPhone SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro or better for augmented reality stand counts
Pricing and Availability:
Pocket Agronomist for iOS is available for free today on the iOS App Store in the Utilities category.

WaterField Celebrates Gear Case Month with New Designs and Bright Colors

WaterField Celebrates Gear Case Month with New Designs and Bright Colors - Published on 08/01/18
Tech accessories get the spotlight this August at WaterField Designs with Gear Case Month. This month, the company will introduce limited-edition, new color and material options for WaterField's popular Padded and standard Gear Pouches plus three new Gear Cases they developed as part of a customer-driven, crowdsourced design project. These colorful artisan cases can carry a MacBook and iPhone charger, USB cables, cords and/or any other variety of small items.
San Francisco, California - San Francisco's WaterField Designs, an innovative leader in custom laptop sleeves, bags and device-specific cases, announces Gear Case Month this August. Each week, the company will unveil new cases or case options, beginning today with new limited-edition colors and textiles for its popular Padded and standard Gear Pouches. As the month progresses, WaterField will unveil three new designs, each developed as part of WaterField's fifth collaborative crowdsourced design project. Designed to hold and organize tech accessories, the colorful artisan cases can carry a MacBook and iPhone charger, USB cables, cords and/or any other variety of small items.
WaterField's Gear Case Month kicks off today with a limited-edition run of its Padded and standard Gear Pouches. During August, both the compact and full-size Padded Gear Pouch will be available in top-of-the-line, aniline leather in cowboy brown, crimson and navy. This sumptuous, premium leather is dyed exclusively with soluble dyes, so it retains the hide's natural surface, and it develops a beautiful patina over time.
WaterField's popular standard Gear Pouches are available this August in four vibrant colors " black, green, red and teal in Microtech, a soft, industrial strength fabric tested to withstand 90,000 "double-rubs." WaterField will gather orders for these special-edition pouches throughout the month and ship at the end of August.
"Our Gear Pouches are one of our most popular products, probably because they're just so useful and versatile," said company owner Gary Waterfield. "We decided to have some fun with a limited-edition run of these constantly-used items in high-end, irresistible-to-touch materials and in bright colors that make quickly finding your gear a snap."
Each subsequent week, WaterField will unveil one of its next generation customized gear organizers. In June, Waterfield invited community members to contribute design input to help create an "ideal" gear case. WaterField poured over data gathered from customer surveys, identified three unique case needs, and began to design prototypes, all while continuing to update and gather feedback from project participants. This "rapid prototyping" process allows the company to gather and include inventive details that result in highly functional products tailored specifically to customer needs.
This next-generation Gear Case community-sourced design project is WaterField's fifth crowdsourced design project. Although the company has always listened to customers for product ideas, it initially formalized the process through the Kickstarter platform with the design of a highly-organized travel wallet. When Nintendo launched the Switch gaming console, WaterField fine-tuned its crowd-sourced design process and developed a collection of Nintendo Switch cases. High customer and company satisfaction with the process led WaterField to again engage customers in developing the innovative Air Porter Carry-on for frequent travelers, the iPhone Camera Bag for iPhonographers, and most recently, the Pro Executive Backpack for professionals.

Older Children Teach Younger Children Languages with Little Chatterbox

Older Children Teach Younger Children Languages with Little Chatterbox - Published on 08/01/18
UK based The Appy Learning Company Ltd today releases Little Chatterbox for Kids 2.0, the company's popular children's educational app for iOS devices. Little Chatterbox is a unique language learning app that allows kids to interact in an educational, fun, and productive setting. Older children who are native speakers act as virtual teachers to teach younger children as many as 300 words through repetition and mini games in another language.
London, England - If you ask a school administrator why you often see classrooms of older students being paired with classrooms of younger children as "buddies" you will frequently get the same answer. Modeling the behaviors of older children is one of the primary ways that younger children learn. This same principle has now been applied to learning foreign languages, and has been made available worldwide in a free to download iPhone app called "Little Chatterbox" by the Appy Learning Company.
Little Chatterbox is a unique language learning app that allows kids to interact in an educational, fun, and productive setting. Older children who are native speakers act as "virtual teachers" to teach younger children as many as 300 words through repetition and mini games in another language.
Another reason the app uses video instead of just audio to teach words is so children can see the mouth movements, which helps better understand how words are pronounced. Speech voice divorced from a face is much harder to comprehend, that's why it's so difficult to speak on the phone in a foreign language. By watching native speakers as they enunciate, children will pick up vital cues to help them pronounce new words confidently.
The app focuses on environments that children will be familiar with such as school or home, and helps them acquire key "building block" vocabulary in their new language.
"We recommend that children who are trying to learn vocabulary play the game for 10 minutes per day" said Little Chatterbox creator Viviane Lorans "if possible with a parent, and if possible repeating the words aloud, this really helps memorization".
Little Chatterbox features 8 languages including Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, French, German, Hebrew, Japanese and English (both UK and US English!) with more languages coming soon. The app offers every combination of the 8 languages possible, meaning that you could be an English speaker learning German, or a Mandarin speaker learning Hebrew! The app also supports children who are learning two languages simultaneously with bilingual and monolingual settings.
Pricing and Availability:
The app has been approved and recommended by the Independent Parents Choice Foundation and is available worldwide in the iTunes App Store with a free trial available. Additional word packs can be purchased for $3.99 or all words can be unlocked for $9.99 (USD).

World's First Restaurant Review App with Cryptocurrency Rewards
A new article has been published at prMac.
World's First Restaurant Review App with Cryptocurrency Rewards - Published on 08/01/18
Ginkan, Inc. has released SynchroLife, a new beta version of their popular social restaurant review app designed to help users find the best restaurants as fast as possible. After successful beta tests in Japan, SynchroLife has now released their SynchroCoin (SYC) cryptocurrency rewards in the app. SynchroLife is the world's first restaurant review service where users can earn cryptocurrency token rewards for their reviews and photos in the app or by dining at participating restaurants.
Tokyo, Japan - Ginkan, Inc. has released a new beta version of SynchroLife, the world's first restaurant review and discovery platform with cryptocurrency token rewards. Amateur restaurant critics and food lovers can now earn SynchroCoin (SYC) for their restaurant reviews and photos posted in the platform. SynchroLife is building an autonomous platform with a crypto-economy and aims to be the world's first truly global restaurant discovery platform. It is currently available free for both iOS and Android smartphones worldwide in over 155 countries.
This release comes as the first milestone for the SynchroLife Project after their token crowdsale ("ICO") held in September 2017. SynchroLife has also recently been chosen to join the Silicon Valley born global venture capital and accelerator Plug and Play Japan's accelerator program Batch 1 as a part of the Fintech category.
SynchroLife's Growth:
The new version of SynchroLife builds off a successful test release in Japan with over 170,000 restaurant reviews and 420,000 restaurant photos posted to the platform. The social media aspect of the mobile app has lead to a high active user rate, with 19.68% of users posting restaurant reviews. SynchroLife's database already guides travelers visiting Japan to the best picks for local restaurants all throughout Japan.
After the first Japan exclusive release, SynchroLife was released globally in July 2017 and localized into English, Korean, and Chinese. Since the global release, SynchroLife has seen users register from over 82 countries and restaurant reviews have been posted in over 48 countries. SynchroLife continues to expand globally, starting with a focus in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea, and working to build a truly global platform for food lovers around the world. There are three Major Features of the Newly Released SynchroLife:
1. Addition of a Cryptocurrency Token: SynchroCoin (SYC):
SynchroLife's original cryptocurrency token made on the Ethereum blockchain, the SynchroCoin (SYC), is used to reward users for contributing high quality and meaningful content to the SynchroLife platform. Users can earn SynchroCoin by posting original restaurant reviews and photos, providing new restaurant information or updates, adding translations, and other useful content to SynchroLife. This allows for the platform to grow autonomously anywhere in the world as users are rewarded for their contributions.
To inhibit fake reviews or fraudulent attempts to earn token rewards, the reward system calculates trust scores for each user and adjusts rewards based on the quality of the content. This prevents users from being rewarded for fake or paid reviews and allows the platform to maintain high quality review content.
2. Cryptocurrency Wallet (SynchroWallet):
SynchroLife has added a cryptocurrency wallet to the mobile app, available for all users to use. Users can manage their SynchroCoin (SYC) token rewards in the wallet, and will be able to add other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH) in the future as well. Users will also soon be able to receive tokens as cashback rewards in their wallet for dining at participating restaurants. SynchroLife hopes the SynchroWallet can introduce many consumers to cryptocurrency and become their first cryptocurrency wallet.
3. Full Design Renewal:
In addition to the new cryptocurrency wallet to allow users to receive their token rewards within the app, SynchroLife has completely renewed its design (UI/UX). The social feeds in the app have been redone to create a magazine-esque newsfeed of best new restaurant reviews and search has been optimized to help users find the best restaurant picks for their area instantly.
About SynchroLife:
SynchroLife is a social restaurant review app where users can share their experiences dining out and earn cryptocurrency rewards. The platform analyzes users with an original algorithm to analyze their restaurant tastes and interests and help each user find the best restaurants as fast as possible. Anyone can get started today by installing the SynchroLife mobile app and posting restaurant reviews to the platform.

FmPro Migrator 8.73 Adds FileMaker 17 and Image Transfer to SQL Features
A new article has been published at prMac.
FmPro Migrator 8.73 Adds FileMaker 17 and Image Transfer to SQL Features - Published on 08/01/18
California based .com Solutions Inc. has released FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition 8.73. FmPro Migrator is a stand-alone application which quickly and accurately migrates FileMaker Pro databases to MySQL, Oracle, Access, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2, OpenBase and more. Version 8.73 supports for FileMaker Pro Advanced 17. Features supported include Table Consolidation on macOS and Windows, conversion of Microsoft Access to FileMaker 17 and Visual FoxPro to FileMaker 17 conversion projects.
Fremont, California - .com Solutions Inc. has released FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition 8.73 with full support for FileMaker Pro Advanced 17. This upgrade supports the automated conversion from Microsoft Access and Microsoft Visual FoxPro to FileMaker Pro Advanced 17. This release supports FileMaker Pro Advanced 11 - 17 on macOS and Windows.
FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition has been enhanced with a new FileMaker 17 container field export feature for transferring images and embedded files directly to SQL database servers.
The problem:
You have gigabytes of images and digital workflow documents stored within FileMaker database files and need to scale up to a SQL database solution.
The solution:
FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition makes it easy to transfer images into the existing database tables already created by FmPro Migrator within your SQL database.
This feature transfers FileMaker embedded (not external) container field data of supported data types and binary files from FileMaker into SQL database BLOB columns. The image transfer feature is optimized for use with FileMaker 14 database files and supports SQLite, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
FileMaker 17 directly supports embedding of GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PDF, EPS and PNG files when using the Insert Picture... feature. Embedded Binary files of all types are supported when selecting the FileMaker Insert File... feature which would commonly be used for storing spreadsheets and other files.
Other improvements with FmPro Migrator 8.73 include:
* Added support for FileMaker Auto-Enter Get ( UUID ) calculated fields when creating MySQL database tables.
* FileMaker Timestamp fields named "ModificationTimestamp" for MySQL tables will also have the "ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP" field option added automatically. The NULL/NOT NULL option from the original field is respected during the creation of these columns.
* Fixed an issue with Unknown Script Step errors displayed for comment script steps created by FmPro Migrator for Repeating Fields data transfers.
* Fixed an issue with the Table Consolidation data import scripts not being created properly before they were put onto the clipboard for pasting into the FileMaker database.
* Fixed an issue PostgreSQL database connections on macOS.
* Fixed an issue .NET C# conversions with table names being replaced with the text "placeholder_table" in the CollectionViewSource code within the generated .NET code for XAML forms.
* For LiveCode conversion projects, added the quoting of table names in gDataCRArray_ references within the SaveRecordsAsExcel card scripts, in order to prevent possible errors with variable checking or reserved words.
* Made further improvements to the Demo mode data transfer feature by removing the field count mis-match error message and simply transferring only 5 fields of data.
* Improved the reliability of saving application and project level preferences.
Pricing and Availability:
FmPro Migrator Developer Edition is priced at ($200) per developer, FmPro Migrator Platinum Edition is priced at ($600) per developer, and both versions are available immediately. A functional demo version of FmPro Migrator may be downloaded from .com Solutions online.
