RESTfm 3 Released for FileMaker Server - Published on 04/19/14
Melbourne-based FileMaker solutions provider Goya Pty Ltd has announced the new RESTfm version 3, the latest update for their RESTful Web Services product for FileMaker Server. RESTfm allows you to share your FileMaker Server based data with a RESTful Web Service API and allow access to read, create, edit and delete records from any application that has web access. Version 3 is updated for FileMaker Server 13 and Mac OS X 10.9, as well as adding exciting new functionality.
Melbourne, Australia - FileMaker solutions provider Goya Pty Ltd has announced version 3 of their Web Services product, RESTfm. RESTfm turns your FileMaker Server into a RESTful Web Service, so you can access your FileMaker Server databases via the web using a common REST architecture with easy to understand API calls.
RESTfm supports full Create, Read, Update and Delete (CRUD) operations on FileMaker Server hosted data via standard HTTP GET, POST, PUT and DELETE methods.
Version 3 introduces new bulk data operations to allow you to submit multiple records in a single HTTP call, so users can reduce the number of calls required to do multiple operations. As well it allows access for reading and writing to field repetitions, and a new simple format for easy manipulation of FileMaker data in places like FileMaker Go for iOS where there isn't native XML or JSON encoding built in.
With the large changes in Web functionality in FileMaker Server 13, there were considerable changes required in RESTfm and now both FileMaker Server 13 and Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks are fully supported deployment platforms. And changes to the way encoding is handled in the InsertFromURL command in FileMaker 13 is also now built in.
"We've always been amazed at how many different use cases come up for a solution like RESTfm once you start exploring it's functionality and features. And now with the new platform support and improvements in version 3 we're continuing to find cool places to use and integrate RESTfm into our solutions and products." said Nicholas Orr of Goya.
RESTfm is built on the Custom Web Publishing PHP API of FileMaker Server 13 and as such doesn't require any concurrent licences to operate. As well it's licensed on a per server basis, so there is no per user or per connection cost for RESTfm.
Pricing and Availability:
RESTfm is available for $699 (USD) for a single FileMaker server licence. Other licensing options, education and not for profit pricing is available on request. Upgrades are available for just $199 from previous versions. Demonstrations of RESTfm functionality are available on the RESTfm website, including an open source jQuery site built with RESTfm as the back end data source.

Goya is an Australian based software development company specialising in FileMaker Pro developer tools. For over 12 years, we've been developing custom solutions for FileMaker businesses while building up our own suite of developer tools. Starting with BaseElements in 2007 we changed the way developers built their solutions by offering them an analysis tool that worked like FileMaker. In 2010 we created RefreshFM for automating updates and it remains the only product in it's category for FileMaker developers. Our free FileMaker plugin is widely used and highly regarded by the FileMaker community for it's extensive functionality. Now with RESTfm for Web Services we're again re-thinking the things that FileMaker can do and giving more options to developers to extend their solutions. Copyright (C) 1999-2014 Goya Pty Ltd.
