London, Ontario, Canada - Independent game studio Moe Bull Corporation is proud to launch the dreamy, space-themed, arcade game MICROGEE on the App Store. Created by Darren Murtha, he was inspired by games that have the sensation of flight and popular minimalistic, retro, arcade games that feature simple, geometric obstacles and clever level design.
The main menu MICROGEE suggests a small backstory to this casual game. Standing next to his bed and arcade cabinet, this serious gamer has fallen asleep and dreams he is inside the arcade game, floating endlessly until he wakes up abruptly hitting something painful like a wall of spikes, or being eaten head first by a one-eyed-all-mouth alien, or spinning uncontrollably into glowing green goo, trapped in a security field, disintegrated by a laser beam, or pinched by some autonomous, robotic claws. The variety of obstacles, character death animations, and dynamically generated levels, keeps gameplay fun and challenging.
MICROGEE is a dream in micro-gravity. The player changes gravity by tapping on either side of the screen. The left side to decrease gravity and the right side to increase gravity. Often, a player will speed up gravity quickly by tapping repeatedly and then counter the pull of gravity by tapping the other side of the screen at just the right moment to float between obstacles.
A unique and challenging game design element in MICROGEE is the character's shape is tall and narrow and floating in space, spinning head over heals, requires impeccable timing to avoid obstacles.
To create the sensation of floating, players enjoy a relaxing twenty-two minute, space-themed soundtrack. In the first week of use, MICROGEE has already garnered a Nomination for "Touch Arcade Forum Game of the Week." Existing Touch Arcade Forum members who enjoy MICROGEE can show their support of the game by voting for it.
Touch Arcade Silver-Supporter Qwertz555 had this to say about the game at launch, "Just download it for the sake of this brilliant chilled space soundtrack! Oh, and I'm in love with the game itself as well. To control the gravity's momentum (and counter-steer with one or a few quick taps) took me some time, as well as the great ragdoll physics so position yourself, whenever possible, to overcome all those mean aliens and traps...Mesmerizing combination."
Senior Forum Member paulkane says "A perfect compliment after watching 'The Martian' last night. I dig the floaty mechanic. It works really well."
App discovery can be an hard for finding games since new games can be buried at the bottom of search results. Moe Bull Corporation has set up an easy to remember website URL for telling friends and family about MICROGEE while they are anywhere by sharing 'Endless Floater dot com.'
