Advanced Phonograms now features a starting level assessment that ensures students begin learning at the level that is ideal for their specific needs. In addition, a new review mode has been added that allows students to review the content they have already learned using randomly generated wordlists. When reviewing material, all the hints are turned off to help students master material they have already covered. Both these new features include automatic data tracking that allows parents and teachers to view data about each word attempted in interactive bar graphs.

Pyxwise has had its educational methodology validated by an academic study which demonstrated, over an 18-week period, an average improvement of 1.9 grades in spelling scores among children who regularly used its Simplex Spelling apps. The largest grade improvement was 4.4 grade levels.
