iOS English to Chinese Menu Translator Offers Try Before You Buy Option - Published on 07/05/16
Creekcats LLC today announces Caidanshuo2 2.6, the important update to their English to Chinese menu translator for iOS devices. This app offers Chinese travelers an easy way to order food while visiting English-speaking countries. Diners simply take a photo of the menu, crop it, and then tap "Translate." Results are then quickly displayed, with each line of the original menu immediately followed by its translation for easy ordering. Version 2.6 offers a convenient "try before you buy" option.
Berkeley, California - Creekcats LLC is today proud to announce the release and immediate availability of Caidanshuo2 2.6, the important update for their popular English to Chinese menu translator for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. The app offers Chinese-speaking travelers a simple method of translating English language menus, allowing them to select their meal from any menu, using a simple point and order method of communication.
"Caidanshuo2" (Chinese for "The Menu Says") was developed to make ordering as easy as taking a photo and cropping it as needed. Once a photo is taken of a menu, cropped as needed, and the user presses "Translate," the app immediately begins translating the selected menu into Chinese. The result is an easily understandable Chinese menu to read and order from. The app's custom-designed translation engine offers the ability to understand over 38,000 menu-related phrases.
Caidanshuo2 can translate an entire column of a menu at once. Results are presented in an easy-to-read, large font, displaying each line of the original menu immediately followed by its translation. This allows the traveler to simply point to what they want to order, making communication much easier.
Caidanshuo has proven to be extremely popular with Chinese travelers, and thousands of translations have already been performed in the short time since its debut. However, in an effort to expose the app's powerful abilities to even more travelers, Creekcats has decided to offer a convenient "try before you buy" option. Users will be allowed to launch the app up to three separate times before being required to rent or pay for any additional use. Several menu translations can be performed with each individual launch of the app, so users will be able to get an excellent feel for how to use it, while the app's powerful menu translations functions will convince them it merits a permanent spot on their iPhone or iPad.
Features:
* Translates English menus to Chinese, simply using a photo of the menu
* No Internet connection required
* Includes over 38,000 menu-related words and phrases
* Displays translated words in a bold, easy-to-read font, perfect for older travelers
* Each line of the menu is displayed with its translation immediately below it, so it's easy to match each item to its translation.
* Saves translation results, so users can easily go back and forth through the pages of a menu while they decide what to eat
* The handy built-in flashlight makes the app ideal for use in low-light conditions
* Easily shares translation results via email or Facebook with an available Internet connection
* Handy feedback feature allows users to offer comments and suggestions directly to developers
"Caidanshuo2 has been well received by users, and our user numbers continue to climb," says Phil Price, inventor of the app. "However, we want everyone to be able to experience the app's fantastically useful abilities, so we changed the pricing structure to offer even more users the opportunity to experience its amazing menu translation abilities, via a free trial."
Caidanshuo2 is an important part of Creekcats' growing lineup of fine menu translation apps. The idea for the original app, Le Menu Dit 1.0, came to Phil while biking along the Danube with his family. The group stopped for dinner, and were frustrated while attempting to order from a German language menu, even though Phil knew a smattering of the language. When the group attempted to use the popular Word Lens app to translate the menu, it only proved to be an even more frustrating experience, with end results were at best, disappointing.
While expressing his annoyance, Phil announced that he could write a better app, and his mother challenged him on the spot to do so, even offering to invest in the project if Phil moved forward with his idea. Once Phil returned from the trip, he and his two friends, Nathan Addy and Yixing (Ethan) Chen, began working on developing the original app.
Caidanshuo2, like all of the other apps in the Creekcats translator app lineup, concentrates on doing one task, and doing it well. It quickly translates a menu from English to Chinese, displaying the translation in a clear, easy to read manner, making it easy for anyone to simply point to what they want to order, making for an enjoyable dining experience, no matter the language barrier. Menu translation is merely a matter of point, shoot, crop, and wait a moment for the translation.
