"Caidanshuo2" (Chinese for "The Menu Says") was developed to make ordering as easy as taking a photo and cropping it as needed. Once a photo is taken of a menu, cropped as needed, and the user presses "Translate," the app immediately begins translating the selected menu into Chinese. Caidanshuo2 can translate an entire column of a menu at once. Results are presented in an easy-to-read, large font, displaying each line of the original menu immediately followed by its translation. Caidanshuo2 is an important part of Creekcats' growing lineup of fine menu translation apps. The idea for the original app, Le Menu Dit 1.0, came to Phil while biking along the Danube with his family. The group stopped for dinner, and were frustrated while attempting to order from a German language menu, even though Phil knew a smattering of the language. When the group attempted to use the popular Word Lens app to translate the menu, it only proved to be an even more frustrating experience, with end results were at best, disappointing.

While expressing his annoyance, Phil announced that he could write a better app, and his mother challenged him on the spot to do so, even offering to invest in the project if Phil moved forward with his idea. Once Phil returned from the trip, he and his two friends, Nathan Addy and Yixing (Ethan) Chen, began working on developing the original app.

Caidanshuo2, like all of the other apps in the Creekcats translator app lineup, concentrates on doing one task, and doing it well. It quickly translates a menu from English to Chinese, displaying the translation in a clear, easy to read manner, making it easy for anyone to simply point to what they want to order, making for an enjoyable dining experience, no matter the language barrier.
