Auckland based MacDaddy today introduces File Extractor 1.0, their powerful file extraction utility for Mac OS X. File Extractor makes it simple for anyone to find and extract files from any selected file, folder, or browser cache, allowing the user to easily recover and save files that normally would not be accessible from the Mac OS X Finder. File Extractor quickly finds files inside PDFs, disk images, and even complex file types such as Adobe Photoshop documents.
Auckland, New Zealand - MacDaddy is pleased to announce the release of File Extractor 1.0, their powerful file extraction utility for Mac OS X. File Extractor can scan any selected file, folder, or browser cache, and find and extract the files that are contained in them. The app can extract text, graphics, video, and other types of files with just a few clicks of the mouse.
File Extractor offers users the ability to access, view, and save files that are not normally easily accessible to the average Mac user. Anyone can use the utility to find and extract graphics, text, and other files from PDFs, disk images, complex file types such as Adobe Photoshop documents, and much more.
"File Extractor uses state-of-the-art algorithms to extract data from any kind of file, it can even transparently decompress files and UUDecode encoded data that it may encounter," says developer of the app, Ben Slaney. "The app will often surprise you with the quantity, quality, and type of data that it will extract from files. Plus, it saves all text it finds as raw text, so you get easy access and editing to any text data that is found and recovered."
Features:
* Scans files, folders, browser caches, and disk images
* Finds text, graphics, video, and many other types of files
* Extract or recover a single file, or an entire folder
* Recovers corrupted or deleted files from disk images
* Easily find files with just a few clicks of the mouse via custom searches
The app doesn't stop at simply extracting files from folders and from within other files. It can also recover corrupted or deleted files that may have been thought to be lost forever from camera SD cards, hard drives, and other media types. Users simply create a .dmg image file of the storage media they wish to search, and then File Extractor can go to work, quickly recovering deleted and corrupted files from the drive image.
Users of Safari, Firefox, and Chrome browsers can also make use of File Extractor to easily find and recover images, text, video, and other files from the browsers' cache, making it a snap to find website related files that normally would be inaccessible.
Some examples of interesting things to scan are:
* PDF files to extract the text and images
* Graphics images contained in PSD files
* Scan disk images (.dmg) to recover deleted or corrupted files from them
* Files found within large complex file types.
* Browser caches. View the text, graphic, and video files they contain
* Salvage the contents of corrupted documents as raw text
While File Extractor already includes presets to scan your Safari, Chrome, or Firefox browser cache, as well as the Download folder; it also includes the ability to add custom searches, making often-repeated searches as simple as a few clicks of the mouse.
System Requirements:
* OS X 10.7 or later
* 64-bit processor
* 1.1 MB
Pricing and Availability:
File Extractor 1.1 is free, and is available worldwide exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Utilities category. A convenient in-app purchase is available for $0.99 USD, (or an equivalent amount in other currencies), that enables recovery of discovered files.
