MacVector 15 for Mac OS X has just been released with a focus on protein analysis and alignment tools. It contains new tools for submitting protein sequences to functional domain analysis using InterProScan, reference alignment of protein sequences, and being able to align DNA sequences based on their amino acid translation. The reference alignment tool, ALIGN TO REFERENCE has a new setting for identifying INDELS generally seen after CRISPR editing of a target.

Cambridge, United Kingdom - MacVector, Inc. is proud to announce MacVector 15 for Mac OS X has just been released with a focus on protein analysis and alignment tools. It contains new tools for submitting protein sequences to functional domain analysis using INterProScan, reference alignment of protein sequences, and being able to align DNA sequences based on their amino acid translation. The reference alignment tool, ALIGN TO REFERENCE has a new setting for identifying INDELS generally seen after CRISPR editing of a target.

MacVector goes from strength to strength as the easiest to use application for molecular biologists. MacVector 15 can scan your protein sequence with the online InterProScan service to help identify families and functional domains. Results can be automatically annotated back to your protein. The Multiple Sequence Alignment tool has been improved with two new features. It will allow you to align DNA sequences based on their amino acid translations and multiple protein sequences can now be aligned to a single reference protein sequence. The Align to Reference tool also has a new setting that tunes the algorithm to cleanly identify and display the short insertions and deletions that are frequently seen following CRISPR editing of a target.

MacVector, Inc's CEO, Dr. Kevin Kendall, said "Being able to align DNA sequences based on their amino acid translations is a feature we're excited to bring to MacVector's users. You can add many DNA sequences, switch the display to show the translations of those DNA sequences, and then align those sequences based on the amino acid sequence. Alignments can then be flipped back to show the resulting DNA alignment. Easy to use and very informative when looking at cDNA or gene sequences."

MacVector 15 is fully supported on any 64-bit Mac running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
