DuckDuckGo, Inc. today announces DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser 7.0.3, an important update to the company's mobile app and browser extension for iOS and Android devices, as well as browser extensions for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. The major announcement extends DuckDuckGo's protection beyond the search box to wherever the Internet takes you. Version 7.0.3 offers built-in tracker blocking, smarter encryption, as well as private search to protect your privacy no matter where you go on the Internet.


Paoli, Pennsylvania - Today, DuckDuckGo is taking a big step to simplify online privacy with the launch of a fully revamped mobile app for iOS and Android devices, and browser extension for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. The major announcement extends DuckDuckGo's protection beyond the search box to wherever the Internet takes you, and comes on the heels of DuckDuckGo's biggest year in search yet.

In 2017, DuckDuckGo saw:
* Nearly six billion private searches (up about 50% from four billion in 2016) on its platform, bringing the all-time cumulative total to over 16 billion searches;
* An increase of about 55% in daily private searches (from 12 million at the start of 2017 to about 19 million by the end);
* 36% of all searches ever entered in its ten-year lifespan being conducted in 2017 alone.

DuckDuckGo's updated mobile app and browser extension offer tracker blocking, smarter encryption, and private search, meaning that for the first time, these privacy protection tools are available in a single product across all major platforms. This gives people all the privacy essentials they need to seamlessly take control of their personal information online.

The product also shows a Privacy Grade rating (A-F) for each website visited. This rating lets users see at a glance how protected they are, dig into the details to see who was caught trying to track them, and learn how DuckDuckGo enhanced the underlying website's privacy measures. The Privacy Grade is scored automatically based on the prevalence of hidden tracker networks, encryption availability, and website privacy practices.
