When New Zealand rock guitarists Leah Hinton and Elliot Tabachnik were touring Europe with their band, they never imagined it would lead to the beginning of one of Berlin's fastest growing education technology startups. Leah Hinton, a music teacher, had long recognized that creative thinking was rapidly becoming a vital skill for today's children. "Elliot came to a red carpet screening for my Digital Arts class," says Hinton, "We got talking about how important creativity is in education and how limiting today's schools are for kids' creative development."

As larger companies such as Apple and Google, along with state departments, shift their focus towards 21st century education, Hinton and Tabachnik are using creativity to prepare kids for the future.

"Creative education is not just for tomorrow's musicians," says Hinton. "We had to upskill ourselves to become app developers, and this is something that today's kids will need to do continually as the world changes."

"Fortune 500 companies are emphasizing creative thinking and innovation as the key qualities they are looking for," Tabachnik adds. "Our mission is to enable kids to apply logic to their creativity, developing them into the innovators and problem solvers of tomorrow".

Hinton and Tabachnik launched the first app in their ToonSpaghetti series on 3 September. The app has been globally featured in the Apple App Store and is ranked in the top five for kids aged 6 - 8 in 22 countries.

With investments from business angel Dagmar Bottenbruch and Team CSB, TechSpaghetti is rapidly expanding its offerings of creative learning platforms. "I believe that tablets will revolutionize the education space," says Bottenbruch.
