SCSC Releases Scannerz Lite 1.7 for the Mac OS X Operating System - Published on 03/28/14
Software and Computer System Company has released Scannerz Lite Version 1.7 for the Mac OS X operating system. Scannerz Lite is an abbreviated, low cost version of the company's main product, Scannerz for Mac OS X. Scannerz Lite can detect bad sectors or blocks on an SSD, weak sectors on a hard drive, and also detect potential timing problems with the system. The new version shares some of the new features that were integrated into Scannerz version 1.7.
Reston, Virginia - Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC, (SCSC) has released Scannerz Lite Version 1.7 for the Mac OS X Operating System. Scannerz Lite is an abbreviated and easy to use version of the company's premier product, Scannerz for Mac OS X. Scannerz Lite, like its counterpart, Scannerz, is a hard drive, and SSD evaluation tool. Scannerz Lite targets an audience that wants a low cost, high quality test tool without all the advanced features found in the fully featured version of Scannerz, but with an even lower price tag.
"Some people don't want to be bothered with a lot of technical details, tests, and diagnostic capabilities, they simply want to test their drive and make sure it's working properly," stated Bill Wagner, the company owner. "Scannerz Lite fits the bill nicely. Although the advanced diagnostic capabilities of the fully featured version of Scannerz are really pretty easy to use, to non-technical people it might seem somewhat intimidating. With Scannerz Lite, anyone can evaluate their drive or SSD, and if problems are present, take it in for servicing."
"Although the Scannerz Lite lacks the advanced diagnostic capabilities of the fully featured version of Scannerz, the core media scanning engine is the same. Scannerz Lite can detect bad sectors or blocks on an SSD, weak sectors on a hard drive, and also detect potential timing problems with the system that will make it clear to a user when their system has problems. The fully featured version of Scannerz comes bundled with other tools, such as FSE, Phoenix, and Performance Probe, but these are not present in Scannerz Lite. Scannerz Lite has been designed as essentially a fire and forget tool that tests a drive, and at the conclusion tells the user whether the drive passed or failed. It's about as easy to use as it gets."
"Both the fully featured versions of Scannerz and Scannerz Lite are very competitively priced. Scannerz Lite costs almost one-fifth what other products on the market cost, while the fully featured version of Scannerz costs half as much as the competitors. The scanning and testing capabilities of both products are superior to anything else commercially available on the market."
All versions of the fully featured version of Scannerz come bundled with FSE or FSE-Lite, Phoenix, and Performance Probe. FSE and FSE-Lite are file system event monitors that can track excessive file system activity and identify possibly rogue processes. Phoenix is an operating system extraction tool that can be used to create emergency boot volumes and perform basic cloning operations. Performance Probe monitors system activity, CPU usage, and memory usage, and may be of use isolating processes that are too resource intensive. Although the Scannerz Lite package is missing the add-on tools, they may be purchased as stand-alone products through the company's web site.
Current users of Scannerz Lite will be notified by the company in the next few days for update instructions. The update will be free for all current users of Scannerz Lite. Scannerz Lite version 1.7 for Mac OS X is fully supported by SCSC in the U.S. for registered users.
