Song Buddy is a free Mac OSX app which launches automatically in the user's Mac Status Bar and automatically recognizes the music they're currently listening on their Mac using advanced digital fingerprinting technology. The software displays more information about the currently playing artist, including information about the artist's career, their photos and track releases, as well as providing quick access to the artist's official homepage. Song Buddy also allows users to search for an artist by name and provides information about the artist's releases, enabling users to discover all of the artist's latest, earlier, or upcoming music. The artists' songs can be previewed and purchased through the Song Buddy's links to iTunes and the software also enables users to discover new artists they may be interested in, through similar artist suggestions.

For those who like to see and hear their favourite artists in concert, Song Buddy also displays each artist's upcoming events. This functionality provides a quick and easy way to find out information about upcoming tour locations and dates. The information displayed within Song Buddy is updated daily allowing the user to always be up to date with their favourite artists' upcoming events.
