UK based Therapy Box has released SmartHub for the iPad. The app fills a gap for many people with physical disabilities who want to be independently able to control home appliances using their preferred alternative access method. SmartHub allows those with disabilities to do those things most people take for granted by using a switch on a wheelchair or the iPad. Features include compatiblity with most Smart televisions, multiple settings to adjust the screen input and more.
London, United Kingdom - Turn on your light, change the TV channel or switch on a fan. These everyday actions that most people take for granted can be a challenge for people with reduced mobility. For people unable to operate these appliances in a conventional way, SmartHub offers them an easy and affordable solution so that they can control their household appliances via the app and interface which is customisable to suit people with a range of physical abilities including being able to use an external switch positioned on a wheelchair or tapping the iPad.
The app is the outcome of a year long project funded by Innovate UK enabling Therapy Box to work with the expertise of the students and professionals at Scope's Beaumont College who provided their input and feedback to help shape SmartHub.
Steve Mayall from Innovate UK commented, "Innovate UK is delighted to see Therapy Box achieve recognition through various awards this year for its innovative platforms and also to see the full commercialisation of the platform, aspects of which were co-funded by Innovate UK in partnership with Scope."
Rohan Slaughter, Assistant Principal at Scope's Beaumont College, says: "Technology has the potential to transform disabled peoples' lives. Disabled people often have to spend a fortune on specialist technology, or you can buy the devices that we all use, like iPads and Tablets, which are affordable but often inaccessible and hard to adapt." He added, "We would like to congratulate Therapy Box on the launch of their SmartHub product. They worked hard to make a product based on mainstream home automation technology, which they have made accessible to disabled people, by using an easy-to-use interface that can be accessed from a variety of smart devices. The students and staff at Scope's Beaumont College enjoyed testing the SmartHub product during its development and look forward to the public release."

Tomatoes is inspired by the Pomodoro Technique(R), the popular time-management method based on four objectives:
* Work with time rather than against it
* Avoid burnout
* Manage distractions
* Create a better balance between life and work
By selecting the possible time an activity will require, Tomatoes helps users achieve the first objective of working with time rather than against it. By clicking the (+) sign, users can create a new activity and include details such as the activity's description, how many expected units it will take to complete the activity, and tags associated with the activity. Activities can also be created from system reminders.
According to the Pomodoro Technique(R), setting up a timetable motivates users to complete the activity within a set period of time. Units are set to 25-minute increments although if users want to designate a specific amount of time to an activity, they can set a timer. The Pomodoro Technique(R) also embraces the idea that taking short, scheduled breaks combats burnout. In Tomatoes, users can select between a default short 5-minute and long 15-minute break, or customize them as needed, and the timer will monitor the countdown, displaying and sounding an alarm when the time is up.
Activities in Tomatoes can easily be reorganized and reprioritized with simple drag-and-drop functionality. A blue flag indicates the current activity and a red flag indicates completed ones. Users can simply drag the activity and drop it on the timer to set it as the current one. To remove the activity's link to the timer, the user can simply drag it away from the timer.
To help the user manage distractions, Tomatoes provides a way for interruptions to be tracked. By selecting the exclamation point (!) icon, users can choose to log whether the interruption is an internal or external one. Awareness of the interruptions can help streamline the user's focus and make them more productivity in the completion of their tasks.
Tomatoes can help the user achieve a better balance between life and work through the log reporting. A dedicated window features graphical and textual statistics detailing the user's productivity. These customizable graphs report all archived activities and can be displayed according to a specific day, week, month, or data range.

By selecting the exclamation point (!) icon, users can choose to log whether the interruption is an internal or external one. As a user writes, different suggestions for autocompleted words are presented dynamically above the handwriting area, allowing a user to select the right result even before finishing a word. Alternative recognition results are also presented in this view permitting users to quickly correct possible recognition errors.
Penquills automatically learns as it is being used, improving recognition quality over time and updating the word autocomplete lists. The app also includes a simple notetaker app that is perfect for configuring and testing handwriting recognition settings. Penquills input method is especially useful on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus because of bigger screen provides more space to write. The software is specifically designed for finger input but can be also used with any third party stylus.

Whether looking for the hottest stage at a music festival or which downtown bar has the best crowd, Rocket combines photography and location services to help connect nearby users. To use Rocket, 'Rocketers' simply snap, edit, and share photos to showcase what's happening around them at any given moment.
Each photo shared on Rocket is then automatically displayed on a geo-targeted map, where the highest-rated photos have prominent placement. The app's own photo rating system gives 'rocket fuel' to well-liked photos. Higher ratings increase rocket fuel, but once a photo's fuel runs out, it's gone forever. This ephemeral nature enables Rocket to help users discover the most popular activities in their vicinity at any time.
"During my first adventure at Coachella, I wished there was a cool way to see the most popular photos from the Coachella community," says Ryan Grainger, head of Team Rocket, a small group of San Diegans who created the app as a way capture and share photos of their favorite experiences. "We created Rocket so people could discover the most exciting moments happening around them by connecting with everyone around them."

Designed for displaying the iPad Air 2 & iPad mini 3 in a secure and stylish all acrylic mount. newMacgadgets has designed the iPad Retail Display Base for the optimum viewing angle and counter-top height making it the ideal display for most retail applications. In addition, the iPad Retail Display is ideal for trade-shows, exhibits, events and a multitude of other applications where security is a concern.
The iPad Air or iPad mini with Retina display is secured with miniature stainless steel brackets within a solid 1" clear acrylic frame that mounts, with tamper-proof screws, to the pedestal base. The acrylic frame can mount in either the portrait or landscape position. Once mounted, the iPad Retail Display sits at comfortable 20 degree viewing angle. No other product on the market compares.
For additional security the pedestal base secures to any counter-top with screws or adhesive strips (both included) to provide the ultimate anti-theft iPad mount. Slots are provided for the charging cable, on/off switch and earphones. The charging cable can route behind the base for a clean, unobstructed look. We have also included an optional home-button guard for continuous running applications.
