Zero Ideas has experienced first-hand the main benefit to a small developer of prioritizing Apple users: "Apple places challenging requirements on a developer, with high standards of quality control," explains CTO Luke Jobling. "It means there's a tendency for people offering a less creative idea - or a game that's not perfectly integrated - to choose other channels."
For its first release, Clever Clocks, independent developer Zero Ideas has produced a distinctive puzzle game of neon buttons and dials, covering an ample 3,600 levels. In a game that genuinely aims to offer something new and different from other puzzle apps, the goal is to align the dials (or 'clever clocks') via judicious clicking of buttons to turn the clocks in various directions.
Zero Ideas' Visual Experience Lead David Watson explains the dilemma facing producers of original content who can be drowned out by competitor noise on Google Play: "Once users have seen our game, they can easily identify that there's a new idea behind it. The problem for guys like us is that on Play Store there's a significant amount of content that appears similar, all vying for the user's attention. Until players have waded through the various games it's hard for them to tell that most of them are basically the same, and not necessarily anything new or unique."
In contrast, the user-friendly App Store makes it easy for players to locate quality games. Apps are ranked using a complex algorithm based around downloads and Apple's review system can influences users to download apps with great ratings and reviews.

PikShare uses your devices location to generate a feed of PikShares from other users within a radius of your location geographically. This creates an easy way to take group pics that everyone can save to their device. All images on PikShare have a set expiration date before they are removed from the app so that you can share with ease knowing that your content won't stay posted indefinitely. Add an optional user handle and/or caption to make your post even more unique.
The feeds use a user interface similar to Reddit allowing users to vote on content, helping to decide what posts gain more exposure and what posts are removed sooner. These interactions create a community of content sharing similar to other anonymous apps like Yik Yak. At the heart of KosmicMath is a proprietary problem generation algorithm which mimics human instruction, by generating problems that are always appropriate to the player's grade and experience level. KosmicMath's problem generation algorithm tracks all student success and failures - constantly adjusting to each players' unique learning requirements. The KosmicMath problem generation engine automatically adjusts the player's difficulty and settings as they progress through 25 increasing levels of challenge.
Children are promoted when scoring 80% or higher across all required operands for their grade level. Promotion increases the problem number size and problem difficulty by reducing the amount of time allowed for answering the problem. In addition, the number of correct problems is increased as the student shows proficiency in the lower number sets; thus continually challenging the student towards demonstrated mastery of their elementary math tables. KosmicMath supports 5 promotion levels: Cadet, Navigator, Co-Pilot, Commander and Admiral.
