California based PenPower has announced that it launched a new project, WorldPenScan X, the World's first Pen Scanner for iOS/Android on Kickstarter, the well-known crowdfunding platform for creative projects. By integrating with translation software, WorldPenScan X promises to turn any smart phone into an electronic translator. Users will be able to extract printed sentences and convert them into texts on the smart phone. Bluetooth connection is automatically established when powered on.
Fremont, California - PenPower, a leading provider for innovative devices with built-in smart human-machine interface technologies, has announced that it launched a new project - WorldPenScan X - The World's first Pen Scanner for iOS/Android on Kickstarter, the well-known crowdfunding platform for creative projects.
"With this scanner, users can extract printed sentences and convert them into texts on the smart phone. By integrating with translation software, WorldPenScan X can turn your smart phone into an electronic translator," said Daniel Liu, PenPower Product Manager. Along with the newest Bluetooth LE technology, no extra setup is needed to pair the Bluetooth connection between WorldPenScan X and smart phones. Bluetooth connection is automatically established when powered on.
Users can scan sentence by sentence in books, newspapers, flyers, and magazines, easily get them translated into foreign languages and share the information across iOS, Android, Mac and Windows. "You scan documents anytime, translate and share information anywhere. Export the information to your desktop computer through your favorite productivity application for a seamless transition," Daniel Liu explained.
WorldPenScan X can recognize more than 30 frequently-used languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. On the desktop PC or Mac, nearly 200 languages can be recognized and translated.
"During the developing process, we have made great efforts and overcome a lot of difficulties. We broke through the limits of BLE technology by optimizing the transmission mechanism, especially to iPhone. And we also developed a special Thresholding method to ensure we get the best image quality for higher recognition accuracy. Now, we are almost there and we need your help to pledge the project and better yet share this with your friends," Liu said.

The vocal part is sung at a volume which allows you to sing along until you have enough confidence to switch off the vocal part. You can then enjoy singing with the band; on your own, or with friends.

Having just published the Welsh National Anthem App for the National Library of Wales, eto Music Practice is very pleased to announce the publication of the new global anthem App, Auld Lang Syne. The words of all five verses and chorus are carefully spoken and then sung with correct pronunciation; at slow tempi up to a full band accompaniment.
By choosing a start bar and an end bar practise the complete song phrase by phrase, sentence by sentence or verse by verse at any of the tempi. At an appropriate faster tempo we provide a sung guide vocal. This guide vocal can be used in order to learn the correct musical phrasing of the words. It too can be practised as described above.
Although loud enough to be properly heard, the vocal part is sung at a volume which allows you to sing along until you have enough confidence to switch off the vocal part. You can then enjoy singing with the band; on your own, or with friends!
History:
"Auld Lang Syne" is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song. It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations and as a farewell or ending to other occasions.
The song's Scots title may be translated into English literally as "old long since", or more idiomatically, "long long ago", "days gone by" or "old times". Consequently "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, might be loosely translated as "for (the sake of) old times." The phrase "Auld Lang Syne" is also used in similar poems by Robert Ayton (1570-1638), Allan Ramsay (1686-1757), and James Watson (1711) as well as older folk songs predating Burns.Matthew Fitt uses the phrase "In the days of auld lang syne" as the equivalent of "Once upon a time..." in his retelling of fairy tales in the Scots language.
Some of the lyrics were indeed "collected" rather than composed by the poet; the ballad "Old Long Syne" printed in 1711 by James Watson shows considerable similarity in the first verse and the chorus to Burns' later poem and is almost certainly derived from the same "old song".
There is some doubt as to whether the melody used today is the same one Burns originally intended, but it is widely used in Scotland and in the rest of the world. Singing the song on Hogmanay or New Year's Eve very quickly became a Scots custom that soon spread to other parts of the British Isles. As Scots (not to mention English, Welsh and Irish people) emigrated around the world, they took the song with them.

Users can set up their own server for exchanging data and sending reminder e-mails behind their own firewall. With the desktop companion, users can import/export data, or even turn PDF files into images for viewing on their mobile device. The desktop companion even lets them connect with professional partners from office or while on the road.
Background on Emailed Reminders:
Why were reminders implemented using e-mail technology, not e.g. push messages? NetSuxxess fully supports the BYOD (bring-your-own-device) paradigm, so provides an iOS and also an Android version. Native reminders for Android and iOS are quite different in their features and behavior. The desktop version cannot rely on any sort of standard calendar or reminder functionality, because there is none in Windows and Mac OS X. Accessing native calendars would also have required the permission to access the user's calendars, which security sensitive users wouldn't like. Also e-mail provides a standard interface for some workflows: One can forward e-mails, flag them, direct them to team accounts, have them redirected to a fax machine etc. E-mail is heavily used in business, so it's a proven technology.
