As those who have followed his career will know (and doesn't matter if you haven't) The Vicar is a lover of drummer jokes - what else would you expect from a man who works regularly with the best drummers in the world, has a drummer as an assistant, and yet refuses to put drums on his albums?! What no-one knew, until his assistant, Punk Sanderson started adding them to his Twitter and Tumblr feed, was that lots of people like drummer jokes - including most drummers. So after years of putting together the ultimate collection (and writing a few himself) The Vicar has released a drummer joke app. And what's even better, it's free!
And it's not just jokes, for those who are addicted to guessing games, you also get to guess the names of all the musicians caricatured in the pictures. What's not to like? As veteran music producer David Singleton laments, "This App is so simple, even a drummer could use it."
A very English maverick and ever unconventional, David Singleton's primary artistic focus has been The Vicar, featuring whodunits about the music industry. The Vicar Chronicles started in 2000 as blogs, later became video diaries, and eventually evolved into novels in 2013. The Vicar's first album, Songbook#1, was also released in 2013, and garnered excellent niche reviews as 'an exquisite collection of songs' with its 'definitive pop arrangements' making it 'one of the most intriguing and innovative records of our time'. Many reviewers commented on the complete absence of drums. In 1992 Singleton co-founded the music label DGM with Robert Fripp, which they still jointly own, and which has been at the forefront of new attitudes to copyright and artist rights. However, we aren't all rich and willing to spend our money on gambling, are we? Because of the above reasons, Bezyan Games developed Poker Piles! Although the game is quite simple and doesn't include the multiple game variants everybody knows, what it does offer you is a new way of looking at Poker itself. This game is not about sitting at the table with other players or wasting your time in everlasting Poker tournaments, but about competing against yourself, leveling up and obtaining new and exciting achievements. Therefore, you'll never have to worry about having to go "All-In" against aggressive players again. This app really shows Poker is more of a skill game than a gambling one.
So, how is this game different from other mobile Poker apps? Well, it combines the leveling feature of an RPG game with a 5-cards variant of Poker in which you don't compete against other players, but against constantly increasing card dealing costs. You'll be given 7 piles of cards, each consisting of 5 cards. You'll be able to hold 1 to 5 cards from your main pile and discard the rest, for a certain dealing price. The cards you choose to hold will also be part of the other 6 piles you have. At this point, cards will be dealt to all 7 piles and you finally get to see all your hands. Based on the value of your hands, you'll get both some cash and some xp that will boost your level. No real money is involved and you'll never be running out of time. It's just the best choice for when you want to fill in some spare time with a relaxing game.
The game is available for iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone devices and runs on low-end smartphones too.

LicenseSupport 3.0 adds features to the customer support application to extend trial editions, read and write license activation and order data. New Safe Activation API commands enable integration of activation, license status and order data with a vendor website, application or shopping cart.
Henderson, Nevada - Excel Software, a leading supplier of software protection and licensing tools for Mac, Windows and other computers and devices, announces LicenseSupport 3.0. LicenseSupport consists of a desktop application used by a customer support person and an application programming interface to the Safe Activation server. Safe Activation is an online activation service that works with software protection and licensing tools including QuickLicense, QuickLicense Server, DocProtect, AppProtect, QLRT Xcode, OfficeProtect, AirLicense and plugins for FileMaker and Xojo.
LicenseSupport 3.0 supports new features in QuickLicense. A computer-specific code can be generated for a customer license to extend the expiration date or execution count of a Trial license. Commands can be sent to read or write specific data fields from the customer activation record stored in the Safe Activation server during the product activation process. If Safe Activation is used to automate the order process, new commands enable order data to be searched or retrieved.
A software vendor can use the LicenseSupport product in two ways. The LicenseSupport application is a customer support tool to manage customer licensing related issues. The Safe Activation API allows a vendor website, shopping cart or custom application to interact directly with data stored in the Safe Activation server.
With modest technical skills, the LicenseSupport application enables a customer support person to provide an activation code, reset a license, block an activated license before issuing a refund, or change the number of allowed activations for a serial number. The support person can also generate a code to extend a customer Trial license.
LicenseSupport 3.0 can be used directly with a customer running a protected application. It also works indirectly through the Safe Activation server. This task-oriented tool prompts the customer support person for the required information and generates a license code to support a customer by phone, email or web. LicenseSupport 3.0 stores customer records, maintains an historical log of support activities, provides integrated email support and presents a login process to track the actions of each support person.
Using the Safe Activation API, a vendor-written application, shopping cart or website can securely access support commands to retrieve a Serial Number for a specific product, check the status of a license or view a customer record. The license status of a Serial Number can be changed including suspend, reset, subscriber, used, notify or allowed activations. Optional features in the customer license can be remotely enabled or disabled.
While Safe Activation API commands are typically sent from a vendor website, a new API passthru command has been added to the QuickLicense 7.0.5 runtime software. This means a protected application running on the customer computer can now securely access data in the Safe Activation server using the same API commands documented in the LicenseSupport product.

Sebastopol, California - In celebration of Earth Week 2015, Earth in Concert announces the launch of four Nature Maestro(R) iPad apps: Rainforest Day, Rainforest Night, Glacier Bay, and Expedition. Nature Maestro introduces students to Earth's biomes and animals through immersive audio and visual explorations. Students and adults use their creativity and imagination to build, compose, and share audio-rich soundscapes using authentic animal sounds recorded on location by Dennis Hysom in North and Central America. Animal and biome illustrations are hand-drawn originals by Christine Walker. "Not everyone is able to travel to a rainforest or sit there alone for hours at a stretch day and night," Hysom says. "Nature Maestro gives people a sense of immersion through a mobile app.
"Standing quietly in a rainforest and listening intently, away from any human-made noise, is transformative. There's a sense of connection to the natural world that is difficult to find in everyday life. It comes from being still and listening. It's like a meditation. Even a loud sound, like a howler monkey or scarlet macaw, can be joyful, thrilling." A sound recordist and composer with many music and nature albums and a major motion picture background ambience to his credit, Hysom had the idea for an app as a way to share his experiences of recording in nature.
Nature Maestro Rainforest Day and Nature Maestro Rainforest Night feature Costa Rican rainforest biomes. Nature Maestro Glacier Bay features Alaska's North Pacific coastal biome. Nature Maestro Expedition combines these biomes with an Earth in Concert section, including a world map for composing with all the animal sounds. The apps are enriched for educators and contain standards-aligned, project-based learning activities for classrooms and home schooling. Dr. John McCosker of the California Academy of Sciences provided review and validation of the animal facts included in the app.

A bird passes close by and you hear its wings flap and see its coloration. The feeling of being engulfed in a habitat, surrounded by wildlife, is profound.
"I'm grateful for the experiences I had composing a music and nature album series that took me to great places in North and Central America - from the Costa Rican rainforests to the Dakota's tall grass prairies, from the Caribbean to the Louisiana Bayou to Alaska's Glacier Bay," Hysom says. Nature Maestro introduces students to Earth's biomes and animals through immersive audio and visual explorations. Students and adults use their creativity and imagination to build, compose, and share audio-rich soundscapes using authentic animal sounds recorded on location by Dennis Hysom in North and Central America. Animal and biome illustrations are hand-drawn originals by Christine Walker. "Not everyone is able to travel to a rainforest or sit there alone for hours at a stretch day and night," Hysom says. "Nature Maestro gives people a sense of immersion through a mobile app.
"Standing quietly in a rainforest and listening intently, away from any human-made noise, is transformative. There's a sense of connection to the natural world that is difficult to find in everyday life. It comes from being still and listening. It's like a meditation. Even a loud sound, like a howler monkey or scarlet macaw, can be joyful, thrilling." A sound recordist and composer with many music and nature albums and a major motion picture background ambience to his credit, Hysom had the idea for an app as a way to share his experiences of recording in nature.
Nature Maestro Rainforest Day and Nature Maestro Rainforest Night feature Costa Rican rainforest biomes. Nature Maestro Glacier Bay features Alaska's North Pacific coastal biome. Nature Maestro Expedition combines these biomes with an Earth in Concert section, including a world map for composing with all the animal sounds. The apps are enriched for educators and contain standards-aligned, project-based learning activities for classrooms and home schooling. Dr. John McCosker of the California Academy of Sciences provided review and validation of the animal facts included in the app.
