Atlantia Software has unveiled version 1.4 of its audio recorder app SimpleMic, adding support for the Apple Watch in the form of a quick access remote control. The Apple Watch extension, bundled for free with the main SimpleMic app, provides the ability to start and stop recording directly from a user's wrist. Also included in this update is automatic iCloud Drive syncing for audio recordings and support for iOS 8 sharing and action extensions.
Boston, Massachusetts - Atlantia Software has unveiled version 1.4 of its audio recorder app SimpleMic, adding support for the Apple Watch in the form of a quick access remote control. The Apple Watch extension, bundled for free with the main SimpleMic app, provides the ability to start and stop recording directly from a user's wrist. Perfect for situations such as musical performance, lecture, or speech recordings, where the iPhone is placed (and needs to remain) in an ideal acoustic location, potentially steps away from the user. As the recording proceeds, the Apple Watch app displays a flashing indicator similar to that found in the app proper. Finally, and in addition to Apple Watch support, the app now features automatic upload of all recordings to iCloud Drive, making all audio files instantly available on a users desktop Mac or PC without any additional software as well as support for iOS 8 sharing and action extensions.
"Being that the Apple Watch is always on your wrist, it presented the perfect opportunity to enable remote recording controls for SimpleMic", said app developer and sole proprietor of Atlantia Software Nick Bonatsakis. He added, "I am an avid instrumentalist and vocalist during my non-developer time, and I am constantly in situations where I am standing in the perfect spot relative to my iPhone while trying to capture an audio recording. With the addition of this Apple Watch app, I can now control my recording session without fumbling with my iPhone, it just makes things a whole lot easier." When asked about future improvements, Bonatsakis replied, "I'd love to be able to allow recording directly from the Apple Watch microphone, but sadly, the WatchKit SDK does not yet allow this. As soon as that ability is available however, I'll be adding that feature, as I think it would be very cool to be able to capture quick memos and such right from your wrist."

Sebastopol, California - In celebration of Earth Week 2015, Earth in Concert has announced the launch of four Nature Maestro(R) iPad apps: Rainforest Day, Rainforest Night, Glacier Bay, and Expedition. Nature Maestro introduces students to Earth's biomes and animals through immersive audio and visual explorations. Students and adults use their creativity and imagination to build, compose, and share audio-rich soundscapes using authentic animal sounds recorded on location by Dennis Hysom in North and Central America. Animal and biome illustrations are hand-drawn originals by Christine Walker. "Not everyone is able to travel to a rainforest or sit there alone for hours at a stretch day and night," Hysom says. "Nature Maestro gives people a sense of immersion through a mobile app.
"Standing quietly in a rainforest and listening intently, away from any human-made noise, is transformative. There's a sense of connection to the natural world that is difficult to find in everyday life. It comes from being still and listening. It's like a meditation. Even a loud sound, like a howler monkey or scarlet macaw, can be joyful, thrilling." A sound recordist and composer with many music and nature albums and a major motion picture background ambience to his credit, Hysom had the idea for an app as a way to share his experiences of recording in nature.
Nature Maestro Rainforest Day and Nature Maestro Rainforest Night feature Costa Rican rainforest biomes. Nature Maestro Glacier Bay features Alaska's North Pacific coastal biome. Nature Maestro Expedition combines these biomes with an Earth in Concert section, including a world map for composing with all the animal sounds. The apps are enriched for educators and contain standards-aligned, project-based learning activities for classrooms and home schooling. Dr. John McCosker of the California Academy of Sciences provided review and validation of the animal facts included in the app.

Art Authority, developers of the award-winning line of classic art apps, have announced year five of its Summer Intern Program for students majoring in art and art history. As in previous years, the program aims to provide students with experience working on a cutting-edge app within their field of study, while at the same time enhancing the database behind the Art Authority line of apps. Over past summers, interns helped add 25,000 works to the 75,000 work Art Authority collection.
Ashland, Oregon - Art Authority, developers of the award-winning line of classic art apps, have announced year five of its Summer Intern Program for students majoring in art and art history. As in previous years, the program aims to provide students with experience working on cutting-edge apps within their field of study, while at the same time enhancing the database behind those apps. Over past summers, interns helped add 25,000 works to the 75,000 work Art Authority collection.
College students majoring in any art discipline need only a computer and an Internet connection to apply for, and if accepted, participate in the program. Participants will work out of their homes and dorm rooms. The positions are unpaid, but course credit is often available. Students will also gain valuable real-world experience as the art field follows music, movies, books and photography into the online, digital realm. Information and an online application form are available on the Art Authority Summer Intern Program website.
"These programs have been very successful, with both interns and Art Authority learning a whole lot," said Alan Oppenheimer, president of Art Authority. "This summer we plan to build on that knowledge. For technology-focused students, we think working with our apps is a great alternative to a traditional art internship."
Although responsibilities will vary, many interns will concentrate on works of specific artists not already in the collection. Students will scour the Internet, libraries, and other sources for images and associated information that can be added to, or updated in the Art Authority database, where it is then used by Art Authority, Art Alert, and other components of the Art Authority line.
Art Authority for iPad is the only iPad Reference app to be named to both of Apple's Rewind "best of" lists. It brings over 75,000 high-resolution classic works of art to users' fingertips. Hailed as "an experience unlike any other" and "visually dazzling," the app professionally displays paintings and sculptures by over 1000 major western artists from ancient times through current-day. The app is in use by Seton Hill University and a number of other educational institutions worldwide. Art Authority for Macintosh and iPhone bring similar functionality to these devices.

Tamak is a board-clearing puzzler by Pinata Games for iOS and Android. Based around the concept of greed, play takes place on a grid-based board using numbered tiles. These tiles are connected to each other to form chains that clear once they have the appropriate amount of connections. The aim is to gain as many points as possible from creating the longest chains. But the catch is that the more tiles you place on the board, the less space you have. However, the greedier you are, the better your reward. All of this means that you will have to plan carefully and think ahead. And just when you think you've got the hang of it, there's always something else to challenge you.
Tamak combines elements of classic puzzle and strategy games to create a unique experience that is unlike anything else on the market. It's distinct puzzle game elements make for a familiar feel, which in turn makes the core mechanic easy to grasp despite it's unconventional nature. The feeling of knowing that you are playing with the double-edged sword of greed heightens your planning awareness and keeps you constantly making decisions about how to play your way out of each situation.

Pinata Games today announces Tamak 1.0.2, its board-clearing puzzler for iOS and Android devices. Based around the concept of greed, gameplay takes place on a grid-based board using numbered tiles. Greed, by definition, is associated with wanting more. In Tamak it is the force that both rewards and entraps as you strive to breach its duality. With each turn you bring yourself one step closer to greatness. But as you teeter on the brink of glory, will your greed lead you to safety or your demise?

Tamak is a board-clearing puzzler by Pinata Games for iOS and Android. Based around the concept of greed, play takes place on a grid-based board using numbered tiles. These tiles are connected to each other to form chains that clear once they have the appropriate amount of connections. The aim is to gain as many points as possible from creating the longest chains. But the catch is that the more tiles you place on the board, the less space you have. However, the greedier you are, the better your reward. All of this means that you will have to plan carefully and think ahead. And just when you think you've got the hang of it, there's always something else to challenge you.
Tamak combines elements of classic puzzle and strategy games to create a unique experience that is unlike anything else on the market. It's distinct puzzle game elements make for a familiar feel, which in turn makes the core mechanic easy to grasp despite it's unconventional nature. The feeling of knowing that you are playing with the double-edged sword of greed heightens your planning awareness and keeps you constantly making decisions about how to play your way out of each situation.
