SOOMLA, the leading in-app purchase SDK for mobile games, has announced its Series A funding of $5.5 million. With new funding and 400 million end users, SOOMLA is setting out to build the GROW platform, the first cross-game data sharing network. Tel Aviv, Israel - SOOMLA, the leading in-app purchase SDK for mobile games has announced its Series A funding of $5.5 million. With new funding and 400 million end users, the startup is setting out to build the GROW platform, the first cross-game data sharing network. Mobile game developers can leverage the free platform to spot paying users, commonly referred to as "whales," and take action on their first session.
Backed by angel investors until recently, the startup has received its newest investment from an undisclosed multi-billion dollar online gaming corporation. The publicly traded gaming giant recently made two other acquisitions in the mobile space and is investing in SOOMLA to complement the portfolio with a data platform. The recent investment joins a trend of gaming corporations such as Nintendo, Baidu and Tencent all penetrating the mobile gaming market by investing and acquiring mobile gaming companies.
To sound the data horn, today SOOMLA is launching its first data product - the Whales Report. This product allows game developers to pinpoint users already paying in other games, hence highly likely to pay in their game too. This user-level insight is enabled by harnessing crowdsourced data across thousands of games in the GROW data network. Once game developers know users who've paid in other games, they can start targeting them with push messages, in-game campaigns and even adaptive gameplay experience.
Spotting payers early on turns the retention economics on its head. "Think about your game's seventh day retention. You lost a lot of users, but many of them actually paid in other games," says co-founder and CEO Yaniv Nizan. "We know exactly who these payers are and how much they pay, so we can put a number on how much money is left on the table," continues Nizan.
The Whales Report works on the premise of data sharing. Developers can gain access to the platform by agreeing to share data back with others in the network. The company anticipates that this model will drive the product to viral growth, as each game that joins enriches the dataset for everyone else.
A recent report from app marketing firm Swrve shows that 0.15% of mobile gamers account for 50% of all in-game revenue. Ironically, in an industry that is so dependent on whales, there are no means for identifying these lucrative users. SOOMLA is bridging this gap by combining data from thousands of companies. "Our approach is that gaming companies have a lot more to gain by sharing resources. Both our open source framework and the GROW network are based on that realization," says Nizan.
Unlike existing solutions that track data in only one game, the data platform developed by SOOMLA analyzes user behavior across a whole network of games. Developers who opt-in gain actionable insights from other games, not only theirs. "We're committed to building communities around technology," explains Gur Dotan, co-founder and VP Marketing at SOOMLA. "We've seen 10x value for developers collaborating on code, and we're re-creating that synergy around in-game data."
SOOMLA's journey began three years ago when the three founders noticed inefficiencies in the way mobile games were being developed. Free-to-play was on the rise with in-app purchase as the leading monetization strategy, yet all developers were building their monetization logic from scratch. Tokyo, Japan - Indie developer, Tomoyoshi Natsui has announced the release of Everlisten - Lite Edition 1.9, an update to his music listening app developed for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Are you making the best of your music files? Using Everlisten, you can listen to the main portion of a song track, one after another.
With Everlisten, users can add music from their iPod library to playlist managed by this application. This application plays a song, from the "Start Position," and playing it for a set "Playback Duration." You can fast forward and backward as well as pan the artwork displayed on the screen toward right or left.
For example, if you made a setup playback 30 seconds respectively, you can listen to 100 songs in 50 minutes of commuting time. And you may discover a new charm which you have never known. Since it corresponds to background playback, you can listen to the music while doing some work, and the efficiency of the work may increase.
Version 1.9 adds a new MAX to playback duration at right edge, as well as adds a long press feature on back and forward buttons.

"I developed the app because both my sons play volleyball at the club and school level," said BaraLabs owner Frank Bara. "I noticed that usually the people keeping score at games were young players or volunteers who often wouldn't pay close attention to what was going on in the game." Bara also said, "I found myself constantly asking other parents if the score being shown was correct. I decided to make my own app with the features I used most."
VBall ScoreMaster was just updated to take advantage of the most recent version of iOS. As a universal app, it has been designed to run on the iPhone 5 and up, iPad and iPad mini, and the iPod touch 5 and up.
Posting scores and screenshots to Twitter and Facebook lets parents and friends keep everyone updated with the latest scores and player achievements. "My wife would want to know how our boys were doing and I would end up missing the action because I was busy typing a text message to her," Bara continued, "I built into the app the ability to quickly send a text message after an ace or spike; I don't even have to look at the screen, I just tap 'Send' and the message is done!"
The app contains many features that parents, grand-parents, and friends of player can find helpful, and it's now free in the Apple App Store. Users who upgrade from the current version will get many of the new features for free. In addition to this app, customers can also download the drawing app "First Draw" for free.

The app allows Amateur Astronomers to compare two images of the same area taken at different times, to see if there are changes, highlighted by the blinking of any object (star, asteroid, etc.) that only appears in one of the images or that changed position or brightness between a shot and the other.
After shooting pictures of stars clusters, nebulae, galaxies and so on, often Astronomers check if there are changes compared to the "normal" appearance of the photographed area. To do so, they have to search for a picture (or map) of the same area and check brightness and location of each object. Unless they have a Blink Comparator, that alternating the vision of two shots obtained at different times, allows to detect and highlight changes or transient phenomena (comets, variable stars, novae and supernovae, asteroids etc.). In the comparator, the sample image and the reference are shown alternately after being aligned with each other. If an object is present in only one of the pictures, it blinks and can be easily found and marked. If an object has changed position between two consecutive shots, during the animation it bounces back and forth, showing the path traveled.

Paris, France - The Shuff team today is proud to announce the release of Shuff 1.0, their innovative namesake social networking app developed for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Communicate now with Shuff, the messenger ahead of its time! Shuff gives you many ways to stay in touch with your friends. Communication has never been so fun, simple and private. See in real-time what they're writing to you, letter by letter. Watch, as they type. Hurry your friend to answer you by "pulsing" them. Shuff is an app with no history. Only the last sent message of your conversation appears. But you can "favorite" a message with an up-swipe, and find it later in the Favorites menu.
Who has never dreamed of communicating faster? Sending a message without pressing "send"? Not waiting to receive the answer you hope for? Sorry? You want more? You want to see what your friend is typing? Shuff can do it for you. Shuff revolutionizes the way we communicate, by offering users the ability to follow a conversation letter by letter, as it is typed. Our famous Oxford Dictionary specifies: Instant: [usually before noun] happening immediately.
The real definition of an instant messenger. "Today, thousands of applications offer to chat with friends, but none of them propose to do it in real-time. Here is where Shuff innovates. And amazes," explains Cyril Trosset, project founder. "This fully secured application does not keep any record of the conversation: there is no history. And for more privacy, the letters of the messages are mixed so that, only the first and the last letter of each word remains in its original place, to permit reading without any difficulties. The others letters are "shuffed," meaning randomly mixed. This provides more privacy from prying eyes. There is no need for a college degree to decrypt the shuffed messages."
An international application. "I'm drinking some wine with my friend on a terrace in New York, I'm sending a pic to my friend in Lisbon right now," continues Trosset. "I'm drawing a (very good) portrait of my sister in the drawroom with my brother. I share my location while I'm in Los Angeles and talking with my cousin in London, still under the rain (any use of existing "cliches" is purely coincidental). By the way, what time is it over there? Don't worry, Shuff indicates to you the local time of your friend with whom you are conversing, if he or she is long distance or abroad."
A maximum interactivity: An anonymous mode is also available to talk with your friends with your identity kept secret. Perfect if you are fond of jokes. Finally, some shuffed sentences can be sent by text messages, WhatsApp and social networks. According to a famous law, the shuffers are people who inspire feelings of kindness. We are not so sure about the source, but trust us: being a shuffer is cool.
The Story. "We won't tell you Shuff was born in a garage," continues Trosset. "That the application has been developed by a geek, bored in his student room. No, Shuff tells a lot of us, our friendship and our different ways. Freshly graduated engineers, designer, communicant, paralegal and financial man, our profiles are diverse but we always shared a passion for new technologies. The Shuff project was born from that wish to use the new technologies to create the first direct messenger, really direct. At first, it was just an idea, to have fun for a summer, and finally: a fast messenger, innovating and the more interactive it can be. And mostly fun."
