Instead of manually searching Google, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, the History Channel, PBS, National Geographic and more, users can go to the FlixAcademy website. With FlixAcademy, teachers, parents and students can find quality educational movies and videos, filtered by running time, age range, and subject.
Rochester, New York - FlixAcademy, the Ed-Tech startup that is building a curated database of educational movies and videos, is a winner of the Verizon Apps For Class Challenge. Instead of manually searching Google, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, the History Channel, PBS, National Geographic and more, users can go to the FlixAcademy website. The prize money will go towards further development of the website, app and database. FlixAcademy also plans to compensate teachers for their contributions to the database. Teachers can earn rewards simply by submitting links to movies and videos they use, as well as their own custom videos and companion lesson plans. The FlixAcademy website is free to use and mobile apps, currently in beta for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows Phone, will be free as well.
FlixAcademy's submission for the Apps For Class Challenge was in partnership with the Rochester Education Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising resources and offering programs to support the success of city schoolchildren. "We are pleased to partner with FlixAcademy to support innovative, quality activities in Rochester supporting education and educators," said Patricia Braus, executive director of REF.
FlixAcademy also won the Rochester Startup Weekend contest in April, 2014 and has built on that success. FlixAcademy CEO Todd Bernhard noted, "Teachers have a tough enough job. When my wife, a professor at Monroe Community College, wants to find a video that explains a tough subject, it's harder than it should be. Technology should make teachers' lives easier, and make education more entertaining for students."

Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and other services make it practical to turn a Home Theatre into a Home School! FlixAcademy makes it easier to find quality content for educational purposes."

PepperGum Labs now has the first WatchKit games playable for Apple Watch, including a beautifully animated martial arts fighter, Pong and others in ongoing development. PepperGum Labs (PGL) made these games for Apple Watch as part of a class to be offered online to teach Apple Watch Development. PepperGum Labs is also prototyping integration between the Apple Watch and other technologies like the Oculus Rift and Augmented Reality for even more innovative games.
Provo, Utah - PepperGum Labs now has the first WatchKit games playable for Apple Watch, including a beautifully animated martial arts fighter, Pong and others in ongoing development. PepperGum Labs (PGL) made these games for Apple Watch as part of a class they will offer online to teach Apple Watch Development.
Ontario Britton, instructor and engineer at PGL, is a veteran game programmer and iOS instructor, so creating Apple Watch games was his first interest when the WatchKit SDK launched last month. He has found great success using games and other interesting or highly visual apps to teach previous programming classes. These projects will "help you easily learn and maintain your new Apple Watch programming skills," says Ontario.
"You'll learn through fun and engaging applications not found anywhere else," says Ontario. "You'll create these cutting-edge Watchkit applications as some of your first Apple Watch Apps," he continues while showing Pong and 3D games in the Apple Watch simulator. Ontario is no stranger to creating classes for Apple technologies, having developed curriculum for various courses in iOS programming taught at a Gold Level Apple Authorized Training Center.
With such strong interest worldwide in Apple's newly released WatchKit SDK, PepperGum Labs aims to meet the needs of programmers and newcomers alike with some of the highest quality and most unique instruction in Apple Watch programming. The class covers 24 hours of online instruction and provides source code for 10 fully-functional games and other programming projects, including simple starting-point templates. The source code is all written in Apple's new programming language Swift utilizing Apple's newly released iOS8. Instruction is focused on learning concepts of Apple Watch programming and immediately implementing them in code, so students build these games as the class progresses.
PepperGum Labs is using KickStarter not only to crowd-fund the initial cost of creating this online class, but to also generate a community around the new curriculum. For a $49 pledge (or $39 for early adopters), aspiring WatchKit developers get unlimited access through KickStarter to an otherwise $500 online course. The same course costs $1,500 if taken in-person through a training center.
The instructor, Ontario Britton, teaches classes in Apple technologies across the United States. He was the lead mobile trainer at a Gold Level Apple Authorized Training Center in Manhattan where he teaches Swift, Obj-C, Java, iOS Frameworks, Game Programming and Android Development. He has taught non-programmers and experienced engineers, and says that "everyone leaves my classes successfully writing their own apps, often for the first time". This is his first class to be offered online, and it will be hosted through the Udemy website.
The instructor also has impressive iOS experience, having contributed to more than 20 iPhone and iPad apps with over two million downloads among them, mostly games. Included in games Ontario helped engineer is Endless Alphabet, which was one of a select group of apps awarded Apple's "Best of 2014" award and which appeared onstage with Tim Cook at Apple's 2014 World Wide Developers Conference.
PepperGum Labs is also prototyping integration between the Apple Watch and other technologies like the Oculus Rift and Augmented Reality to make the next generation of games a reality as the WatchKit SDK opens even more access to the Watch's sensors.

Winjit Technologies announces it new game for Christmas, Santa's Christmas Candy for iOS and Android devices. Players collect various shapes, sizes and colors of Christmas candies as they pop in the air by swapping them into Santa's bag. As players complete a level, the difficulty of the game becomes gradually more challenging. Players will have a chance to receive tons of candies and gems to earn great rewards. Santa's Christmas Candy has two modes; Arcarde and Classic.

To celebrate the approaching Christmas festival and give players something back for their continued support, Winjit Technologies are thrilled to release a new game for Christmas called "Santa's Christmas Candy." Collect candies to earn great rewards. Players will have a chance to receive tons of candies and gems.
"Santa's Christmas Candy" is a blast! The game is simple; collect various shapes, sizes and colors of candies as they pop in the air and then drop into Santa Claus big gift bag. The game contains 30 types of different levels that will keep users challenged. Players must collect the Christmas candies by swapping them into Santa's bag. With each successful level, your score and the amount of playing time remaining increases. The difficulty of the game becomes gradually more challenging with each level completed. The game has Arcade and Classic; two Game Modes for playing never ending fun.
Game Modes:
* Arcade - Speed is of the essence. Collect unlimited candies & make new records in this unending level. It's all about High Scores. Just make sure you avoid the Red Devil
* Classic - Play levels of increasing difficulty.Game speeds & candies to catch keep changing as you go one level after another. Let's see how far you can go! Classic Mode also allows you to begin from the last completed level or play any previous level.
