A team of five head to the Mojave Desert for two weeks to build Zook Words, a reinvention of Scrabble, minus the cheats and with a few extra levels of strategy. Zook Words eliminates the usefulness of current technology cheat packs, which have ruined the user experience for honest Scrabble and Words With Friends players. It comes with a bigger board, and two rows of contrasting value tiles. Game play itself is 'same but different'.
Mountain View, California - A team of five want to head to the Mojave Desert for two weeks to build Zook Words - which is a reinvention of Scrabble - just minus the cheats and with a few extra levels of strategy. They're on Kickstarter now but didn't take the normal humdrum approach of a nice 'This is us, and here is a our product video.' Simon Brooks, inventor of Zook Words who had to take one for the team and do the video himself joked "I'm going on Kickstarter to kick the f-ing doors in".
The team is based out of the world-famous Hacker Dojo in the heart of Silicon Valley. Other products with startup roots at the Hacker Dojo include Pinterest and Pebble Watch - so they're in good company.
With a video budget of zero Brooks rewrote the lyrics to the classic vulgar drinking song 'Good Ship Venus' also known as 'Friggin in the Riggin', made famous by The Sex Pistols, and turned them into 'Hacking in the Desert'. He included a fun verse about each team member highlighting the chemistry and dynamics of the team. With a successful Kickstarter this newly formed team will head to the desert to build their game, and have a great new experience that they've named 'HacktusJack'. They'd love to grow it into an annual event, kinda like a Burning Man, but for the hackathon and makathon communities.

For his second word game, armed with experience, he's built a team and kept the emphasis on fun.

Brand new war game by Sirocco Mobile is coming out on the 1st of June 2014. We are releasing DEFENSE 39! The game is Free, presenting a totally unique gameplay challenge and a whole new approach to the Tower Defense genre. Our goal is to bring back the heroism of the Polish army. The game will let you relive the defense of several locations stormed by the Nazis. With hundreds of enemy units on-screen, weaponry which makes a difference, the game came out to be absulutely unique.

We are realesing DEFENSE '39. The game is Free, presenting a totally unique gameplay challenges and a whole new approach to the Tower Defense genre. Available on AppStore and GooglePlay, and we are targeting Windows market soon too.
We may not have the thousands of dollars required for a full-scale marketing campaign, nor be particularly good at this stuff. But we make games and we believe that the game itself counts, not the marketing. We therefore ask you for a review of Defense '39 (or just mention about it) and hope that together we can prove that a good game can shine out, without all this PR and marketing gibberish.
There is a trailer movie available, which should give you some idea on how the game works.
Games rarely take up the events of the September 1939, when Nazi Germany attacked Poland, leading to the break out the World War II. Our goal is to bring back the heroism of the Polish army, which faced the gargantuan technical and manpower advantage of the enemy. The game will let you relive the defense of several locations stormed by the Nazis. Fiercely standing ground against the enemy tide, their defenders faced odds as dramatic as 40:1. We succeded at introducing a brand new, innovative approach to the Tower Defense genre. With hundreds of enemy units on-screen, weaponry which really DOES make a difference, instead of just changing a few stats and the unbelieveably intuitive aiming system, the game came out to be absulutely unique and dangerously addictive.
As dedicated opponents of in-game microtransactions, here at Sirocco Mobile we decided to introduce a single-time extra feature payment system (Defense Super Pack), which will allow the player to fully enjoy the game and all its features without any additional expenses. The upgrade system is based on collecting medals during gameplay, so it is as easy as collecting them, instead of spending your money on endless microtransactions. It does not get any easier than that and the player has the cetrainty that the game won't ask for payment in order to allow progression at some point.
I sincerely hope that you will enjoy the game (at least as much as we and our QA department did!) and will take some time to write a review of it on your website.
