Thinking Outside the Watch: See How Apple Watch + Oculus Rift Integrate - Published on 12/26/14
PepperGum Labs has successfully integrated the Oculus Rift with an iPhone standing in as an Apple Watch. The two technologies combined allow a more interactive 3D experience than available using the technologies separately. The Company has also recently created some of the first games playable for Apple Watch, including a beautifully animated martial arts fighter, Pong and others in ongoing development. PepperGum Labs (PGL) made these games to teach WatchKit development.
Provo, Utah - On Wednesday, PepperGum Labs(PGL) simulated the integration of two cutting technologies: the Oculus Rift, and the Apple Watch. Using an iPhone to stand-in for the Apple Watch, PGL Software Engineer and iOS instructor Ontario Britton demonstrated interaction with an augmented 3D world with his Apple Watch fill-in. "It feels pretty amazing to control these next-generation user interfaces with hands empty of devices or sensors," says Ontario.
PGL also demonstrated some of the first games for the Apple Watch. These games are playable via WatchKit and include a beautifully animated martial arts fighter, Pong and others in ongoing development. PGL made these games for the Apple Watch as part of a class it will offer online to teach Apple Watch development.
Ontario is a veteran game programmer and iOS instructor, so creating Apple Watch games was his first interest when the WatchKit SDK launched last month. He has found great success using games and other highly visual apps to teach programming classes. These projects will "help you easily learn and maintain your new Apple Watch programming skills," says Ontario. "You'll learn through fun and engaging applications not found anywhere else."
"You'll create these cutting-edge Watchkit applications as some of your first Apple Watch Apps," he continued while showing Pong in the Apple Watch simulator. Ontario is no stranger to creating classes for Apple technologies, having developed curriculum for various courses in iOS programming taught at a Gold Level Apple Authorized Training Center in Manhattan.
With such strong worldwide interest in Apple's newly released WatchKit SDK, PGL aims to meet the needs of programmers and newcomers alike with some of the highest quality and most unique instruction in Apple Watch programming. The class covers 24 hours of online instruction and provides source code for 10 fully-functional games and other programming projects, including simple starting-point templates. The source code is all written in Apple's new programming language Swift utilizing Apple's newly released iOS8. Instruction is focused on learning concepts of Apple Watch programming and immediately implementing them in code, so students build these games as the class progresses.
PepperGum Labs is using KickStarter not only to crowd-fund the initial cost of creating this online class, but to also generate a community around the new curriculum. For a $49 pledge (or $39 for early adopters), aspiring WatchKit developers get unlimited access through KickStarter to an otherwise $500 online course. The same course costs $1,500 if taken in-person through a training center.
The instructor, Ontario Britton, teaches classes in Apple technologies across the United States. He was the lead mobile trainer at a Gold Level Apple Authorized Training Center in Manhattan where he teaches Swift, Obj-C, Java, iOS Frameworks, Game Programming and Android Development. He has taught non-programmers and experienced engineers, and says that "everyone leaves my classes successfully writing their own apps, often for the first time". This is his first class to be offered online, and it will be hosted through the Udemy website.
The instructor also has impressive iOS experience, having contributed to more than 20 iPhone and iPad apps with over two million downloads among them, mostly games. Included in games Ontario helped engineer is Endless Alphabet, which was one of a select group of apps awarded Apple's "Best of 2014" award and which appeared onstage with Tim Cook at Apple's 2014 World Wide Developers Conference.

The idea behind HoHoHo Hero is perfectly simple: on a snowy Christmas Eve evening Santa Claus is making his way across the icy rooftops carrying a sack of gifts. Santa uses a Candy Cane to get from one roof to another. As one holds the finger on the screen, the Candy Cane stretches. The finger should be released once the Cane reaches the required length. If the Candy Cane is too short, Santa falls and the game ends. Likewise, if the cane is too long and stretches over the target rooftop, Santa falls and the game is over. Obviously, one needs to have a good eye to score many points in HoHoHo Hero.
The game can be played at a relaxed speed: users can take their time and have short breaks each time Santa has safely landed onto the rooftop. The game is not that easy as it might seem. The points are hard to acquire, yet the Santa's cheering HoHoHo exclamation after the fall makes losing less frustrating.

Board Game play is based on one simple concept. Use hieroglyph game pieces to construct a connected pathway from end-to-end (Red) or top-to-bottom (Blue). At the same time, prevent your opponent from completing their pathway. As game play continues, the strategy grows surprisingly complex, providing opportunities to capture opposing pieces and create new paths to victory. Mix and match both local and Game Center match-based play in up to four separate games at once with friends or challengers from around the world.
To assist your game play, journey beneath the pyramid in search of Hidden Treasure and Bonus Wildcards. Sydney, Australia - LeThorne has announced the release and immediate availability of Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe 1.52, an update to their fun, feline-inspired arcade game for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Due to the post-Christmas flush of unwanted cat gifts being dropped off at Cat Havens, animal activists have broken in and liberated the poor kitties. Since their freedom, cats have been sighted at 12 different tourist destinations across Australia. This has inadvertently resulted in a disruption to the surrounding ecosystems, including an increase in the number of mice and dogs. Animal Control teams have been dispatched to capture the cats and players must help Crazy Cat Lady collect the unwanted kitties before time runs out.

Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe involves a simple tap-to-play gameplay. To move the Crazy Cat Lady across the screen, the player must tap the screen to her left or right. To make the Crazy Cat Lady move more quickly, the player must tap the screen more frequently in the required direction.
After the player has aligned the Crazy Cat Lady below the falling cat, the player must tap above the Crazy Cat Lady so she extends her arms. The kitties can only be caught if the Crazy Cat Lady's arms are up. Too much reaching can make the Crazy Cat Lady tired and cranky, so her arms should only be extended when a cat is near. Catching cats makes Crazy Cat Lady happy so players must keep an eye on the Happiness Meter and status bar to win the level. If Crazy Cat Lady drops too many cats, she becomes sad. If the Crazy Cat Lady becomes too sad or the timer runs out, the game ends.
Each of the 12 levels of Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe is progressively more challenging and introduces a variety of enemies that Crazy Cat Lady must face to be successful in her quest to save the kitties. Dogs scare the cats and mice attract the cats so they cannot be caught. Animal Control has a net that will steal all of the cats the Crazy Cat Lady has collected during the level. If Animal Control succeeds, this will make the Crazy Cat Lady very sad so the player wants to avoid this scenario at all costs.
Available in both Pro and free versions, Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe contains colorful graphics, original music, and sound effects. The free version contains ads and the ability to select special features individually for in-app purchase in the Thrift Shoppe. In the Pro version of Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe, there are no ads and all special features are available at a discounted cost. These special features include:

Since their freedom, cats have been sighted at 12 different tourist destinations across Australia. This has inadvertently resulted in a disruption to the surrounding ecosystems, including an increase in the number of mice and dogs. Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe involves a simple tap-to-play gameplay. To move the Crazy Cat Lady across the screen, the player must tap the screen to her left or right. To make the Crazy Cat Lady move more quickly, the player must tap the screen more frequently in the required direction.
After the player has aligned the Crazy Cat Lady below the falling cat, the player must tap above the Crazy Cat Lady so she extends her arms. The kitties can only be caught if the Crazy Cat Lady's arms are up. Too much reaching can make the Crazy Cat Lady tired and cranky, so her arms should only be extended when a cat is near. Catching cats makes Crazy Cat Lady happy so players must keep an eye on the Happiness Meter and status bar to win the level. If Crazy Cat Lady drops too many cats, she becomes sad. If the Crazy Cat Lady becomes too sad or the timer runs out, the game ends.
Each of the 12 levels of Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe is progressively more challenging and introduces a variety of enemies that Crazy Cat Lady must face to be successful in her quest to save the kitties. Dogs scare the cats and mice attract the cats so they cannot be caught. Animal Control has a net that will steal all of the cats the Crazy Cat Lady has collected during the level. If Animal Control succeeds, this will make the Crazy Cat Lady very sad so the player wants to avoid this scenario at all costs.
Available in both Pro and free versions, Crazy Cat Lady Cat-astrophe contains colorful graphics, original music, and sound effects. The unique sender, contact and recipient-based views, along with chronological and message-size views help organize your Inbox. Sender-Centric View:
Messages in your inbox and all folders are shown grouped by sender. You can choose to view all senders, onlly those senders who are already saved in your contacts, or view sender by date showing individual messages like traditional email clients.
Contact-Centric View:
With MailTamer you can see messages broken out by senders in Contacts. Mail from senders not in your Contacts on your phone are grouped together separately. Perform actions on messages from known senders or those not known.
Recipient View:
One additional view available is Recipient View. Here you can see messages for each recipient of the mail in the selected folder. This is useful if you use different email addresses for a particular account.
Multiple Email Accounts:
MailTamer can give you a sender view for a number of your IMAP and POP mail accounts. Easily connect to Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and other services like iCloud Mail, MSN and Hotmail.
Chronological View:
The Chronological view shows your messages as a traditional email client would show them to you, in reverse chronological order. Occasionally it's nice to see when your email arrived.
Size View:
This view shows you the size of your individual email messages in descending size order. This helps people address the messages taking up the most room in their mailbox.
Drill-down for Detail:
While your inbox is shown by sender for simplicity and speed, you have the ability to continually drill-down to see detail on the messages sent by that sender. You can also view a web preview of HTML mail.
Search Enabled:
Search senders in the sender-view and search folders when applying actions to a all or selected messages. As you search for folders we give you the option to create folders at the same time.
Contact-ability:
Easily view and create contacts for the message sender shown. MailTamer integrates with Contacts on your mobile device.
"I had a problem with excessive emails that had taken over my life as a professor, model and mother," explained Ria Greiff, co-CEO.
