Proud Time Management App Helps Users Take Back Control of Their Time - Published on 02/16/16
Poland-based indie developer, Piotr Szwach has announced Proud 1.1, the important update to his popular gesture-based time management app for iOS and Apple Watch devices. This app allows busy individuals to take back control of their time by helping them view and manage important tasks, set reminders, and view accomplishments, building the habits that lead to better productivity. Version 1.1 features community-created congratulatory audio messages in English that play when the user completes a task.

This app's intuitive, gesture-based design allows anyone to to take back control of their lives, by helping them keep track of their tasks, reminders, and habits. Information from the universal app syncs across all iOS and Apple Watch devices, allowing users to keep track of their tasks, reminders, and accomplishments no matter where they may be. (The Mac version is scheduled for beta testing in February.)
Proud allows anyone to quickly enter and manage their tasks, set reminders, and even view past accomplishments. Through the use of easy-to-learn gestures, users can enter and manage their tasks and reminders with just a few swipes and taps of a finger. Need to create a task list for the day? With a simple pulling down motion of a finger on the Lists screen, a new task list is created. Tap a list to view the entries for that list. Create new tasks in a list with the same easy-to-remember swipe down motion. Edit task names by tapping and holding on the left end of any entry. Swipe right on task to mark it as complete, swipe left to delete it.
"Productivity is about time management, it's true, but it is also about so much more than that," says Proud developer, Piotr Szwach. "When I decided to create Proud, I wanted to offer an app that would not only help users complete their tasks, but to also enrich their lives. That's why as well as including excellent task management and reminder functions, I also included features to help users to take time out of their busy day for a relaxing break, in order to help manage their stress and improve their productivity."
While a number of gesture-based task management and reminder apps are available, Proud stands out from the pack by not only listing reminders and upcoming tasks, but by also making a list of your accomplishments available for viewing to offer a quick personal boost for users when they see how much they've already accomplished. The app also offers a bit of "way to go" reinforcement to users, by the use of upbeat sounds and animations. Once a task is marked complete, users have always been greeted with a pleasant tone, and a celebratory animation. Now, with the debut of version 1.1, they will also be cheered on by a number of congratulatory messages from other users of Proud.
The app's handy reminder function allows users to set an item to be completed now, tomorrow, next week, by the weekend, or on a particular date. Tasks can be set to be completed by a certain time of day, such as morning, afternoon, or evening. Or, for more time-sensitive tasks, exact completion times can be set. Items can also be set to be recurring tasks by tapping the Recurring option, or by simply pulling upwards. Users can then set how often the task needs to recur, and when. Recurring tasks can be turned into habits to encourage user focus.
Items with due dates appear in chronological order, so upcoming tasks are easy to follow on screen. If a user is feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all, they can access the "Focus and Relax" superpower to take a short breather, or use the "Give Me More Time" superpower to push tasks back to a later time; anywhere from 2 hours later, to one week later to give the user some breathing space.
Proud's Focus/Relax timer offers users the opportunity to take a break in their day. While it may sound counter-intuitive to some, taking breaks during the day can actually improve a worker's productivity. The app makes use of the famed Pomodoro technique by setting periods for focusing on both work and relaxation. Pomodoro encourages taking a set period of time for focusing on work, and then a shorter period of time to take a break, in order to relax the mind. This helps assure that users never fall into a low-energy rut, causing them to become distracted and unmotivated. Plus, the app's handy "De-Stress" function offers a controlled breathing session, which can help the mind and body to function at their best.

Timecode has released Reiner Knizia's Dice Monsters 1.03 for iOS, an update to their unique dice game designed by prolific board game designer Dr. Reiner Knizia. Players must combine dice in the most optimal way to win battles against hilarious monsters in 5 different worlds. A player will fight combination monsters, total monsters, pixies and other kinds of opponents, as well as learn new monster's abilities while progressing through the game.
Kiev, Ukraine - Timecode, developer of games, mobile and server applications, has released final version of "Reiner Knizia's Dice Monsters" on iOS devices, unique dice game designed by prolific board game designer Dr. Reiner Knizia. The gameplay is to combine dice in the optimal way, to win battles against hilarious monsters in 5 different worlds. A player will fight combination monsters, total monsters, pixies and other kinds of opponents, he/she will learn new monster's abilities while progressing through the game.
There are boosters revealed to the player gradually, to compensate new monsters' powers. At the final level of each world there's a boss fight, winning the fight will award the player with a new die with special abilities, such as a die with 7 pips, a steel die protecting from monsters' swords and others.
"Reiner Knizia's Dice Monsters" was released for a soft launch in Q4 2015. During last months the levels were balanced for best progression, new features were added according to players' feedback such as Eternal Life available as an IAP.
The game was designed by Dr. Reiner Knizia, having created over 600 published games, won the Deutscher Spiele Preis four times, a Spiel des Jahres award, and numerous other national and international awards. There are more than 40 of Dr. Reiner Knizia's games available in the App Stores.

Many other improvements and changes have been packed into that upgrade which sets the base for future additions to the app. Dropshare for Mac 4 will automatically import settings from previous installations of the app to make the upgrade process smooth and seamless for existing users. The upgrade also offers the possibility to share connections between Macs by exporting them in an encrypted format to make sharing even easier than before.

Steamburg by Telehorse wins award at White Nights Helsinki

Steamburg, a new game by Telehorse, won the Indie Game Cup for Best Storytelling at White Nights Conference in Helsinki last Friday. The game was also nominated for Grand Prix at the event. The developer started working on the game in 2015 and showcased it at Tokyo Game Show and Casual Connect under the name Steamville. The name was changed under pressure from lawyers representing Zynga. Steamburg will compete for the Indie Prize at Casual Connect Europe in Amsterdam this week.
Warszawa, Poland - Steamburg, a new game by Telehorse, won the Indie Game Cup for Best Storytelling at White Nights Conference in Helsinki last Friday. The game was also nominated for the Grand Prix at the event. Steamburg is a puzzle adventure game by Telehorse. It is currently under development with the planned release date in the first half of 2016.
The game takes place in the same steampunk universe as Telehorse's award-winning Steampunker. Once again we meet Vincent, our Steampunker hero, who engages in combat in the town of Steamburg, fighting evil robots from outer space. Vincent's only weapon are small electro-bombs. Such a bomb cannot destroy the robot, though. It can shock him for a while, lure him or turn on a mechanism which opens a gate or a bridge and allows Vincent to move further. Vincent has to walk through Steamburg's streets, choosing his route very carefully, so that the robot chasing him is destroyed when it hits upon a high-voltage electrical device.
The difficulty level varies a lot. The task seems fairly easy in the first scene. Once you progress further, you need to try much harder to make various walking and flying robots hit straight upon a giant Tesla coil. As was the case with Steampunker, one of the game's strengths lies in its excellent steampunk-style artwork. An original score for the game will once again be composed by Silver Rocket.
Steamburg is being developed for mobile devices and Telehorse intends to launch both iOS and Android versions simultaneously. They are also working on the PC version, but the release date hasn't been scheduled yet. The game consists of 4 chapters, 8 scenes each.
The developer started working on the game in 2015 and showcased it at Tokyo Game Show and Casual Connect under the name Steamville. The name was changed under pressure from lawyers representing Zynga. Telehorse began developing a new steampunk-style game in early 2015. The game takes place in a town, so the studio decided to look for a nice-sounding place name. They immediately rejected Steam City, as it resembled Sim City too closely. Steamtown and Steamburg were the two strong contestants, but eventually Telehorse settled for Steamville. The US alone has dozens of towns whose names end in -ville.
Steamville's demo was showcased, among others, at the Casual Connect in San Francisco and Tokyo Game Show. On 27 October 2015 the law office representing Zynga sent Telehorse a letter demanding that the studio ceases to use the name Steamville until the end of the month, citing the infringement of Zynga's intellectual property rights.
Telehorse replied by explaining that their game in no way resembled Zynga products and that the name Steamville was not identical to any of Zynga's games. A bit of research yielded surprising results: games such as Blingville, Quackville Pyramidville or Dungeonville also got into legal trouble with the company. Unfortunately Zynga's legal team are famous for their effectiveness. In a subsequent e-mail they stated that Zynga has copyrighted the -ville suffix in Europe, thus winning their cases against Clubville and Toonsville. The scope of the trademark in Europe is vast and extends beyond video games.
Although Telehorse believe Zynga's action to be unfounded, they have decided to change the name of the game. As a small independent studio it does not have the resources required for a legal battle with a US giant and they would rather allocate their time and efforts to developing the game itself. Telehorse will be presenting Steamburg at the Indie Prize showcase at Casual Connect Europe in Amsterdam this week.

Telehorse is a Warsaw-based independent studio established in 2013 by Mariusz Szypura. Szypura has worked for advertising agencies as a graphic designer and creative director. He has been in charge of hundreds of campaigns and projects, winning a Fryderyk Music Award for the artwork on one of his album covers. What is more, Mariusz is an experienced musician with more than a dozen records under his belt. Telehorse allows him to pull all his skills together and independently develop computer games. In 2014 Telehorse released the first game called Steampunker for iOS and Android mobile devices. Steamburg by Telehorse wins award at White Nights Helsinki - Published on 02/15/16
Steamburg, a new game by Telehorse, won the Indie Game Cup for Best Storytelling at White Nights Conference in Helsinki last Friday. The game was also nominated for Grand Prix at the event. The developer started working on the game in 2015 and showcased it at Tokyo Game Show and Casual Connect under the name Steamville. The name was changed under pressure from lawyers representing Zynga. Steamburg will compete for the Indie Prize at Casual Connect Europe in Amsterdam this week.
Warszawa, Poland - Steamburg, a new game by Telehorse, won the Indie Game Cup for Best Storytelling at White Nights Conference in Helsinki last Friday. The game was also nominated for the Grand Prix at the event. Steamburg is a puzzle adventure game by Telehorse. It is currently under development with the planned release date in the first half of 2016.
The game takes place in the same steampunk universe as Telehorse's award-winning Steampunker. Once again we meet Vincent, our Steampunker hero, who engages in combat in the town of Steamburg, fighting evil robots from outer space. Vincent's only weapon are small electro-bombs. Such a bomb cannot destroy the robot, though. It can shock him for a while, lure him or turn on a mechanism which opens a gate or a bridge and allows Vincent to move further. Vincent has to walk through Steamburg's streets, choosing his route very carefully, so that the robot chasing him is destroyed when it hits upon a high-voltage electrical device.
The difficulty level varies a lot. The task seems fairly easy in the first scene. Once you progress further, you need to try much harder to make various walking and flying robots hit straight upon a giant Tesla coil. As was the case with Steampunker, one of the game's strengths lies in its excellent steampunk-style artwork. An original score for the game will once again be composed by Silver Rocket.
Steamburg is being developed for mobile devices and Telehorse intends to launch both iOS and Android versions simultaneously. They are also working on the PC version, but the release date hasn't been scheduled yet. The game consists of 4 chapters, 8 scenes each.
The developer started working on the game in 2015 and showcased it at Tokyo Game Show and Casual Connect under the name Steamville. The name was changed under pressure from lawyers representing Zynga. Telehorse began developing a new steampunk-style game in early 2015. The game takes place in a town, so the studio decided to look for a nice-sounding place name. They immediately rejected Steam City, as it resembled Sim City too closely. Steamtown and Steamburg were the two strong contestants, but eventually Telehorse settled for Steamville. The US alone has dozens of towns whose names end in -ville.
Steamville's demo was showcased, among others, at the Casual Connect in San Francisco and Tokyo Game Show. On 27 October 2015 the law office representing Zynga sent Telehorse a letter demanding that the studio ceases to use the name Steamville until the end of the month, citing the infringement of Zynga's intellectual property rights.
Telehorse replied by explaining that their game in no way resembled Zynga products and that the name Steamville was not identical to any of Zynga's games. A bit of research yielded surprising results: games such as Blingville, Quackville Pyramidville or Dungeonville also got into legal trouble with the company. Unfortunately Zynga's legal team are famous for their effectiveness. In a subsequent e-mail they stated that Zynga has copyrighted the -ville suffix in Europe, thus winning their cases against Clubville and Toonsville. The scope of the trademark in Europe is vast and extends beyond video games.
Although Telehorse believe Zynga's action to be unfounded, they have decided to change the name of the game. As a small independent studio it does not have the resources required for a legal battle with a US giant and they would rather allocate their time and efforts to developing the game itself. Telehorse will be presenting Steamburg at the Indie Prize showcase at Casual Connect Europe in Amsterdam this week.

Telehorse is a Warsaw-based independent studio established in 2013 by Mariusz Szypura. Szypura has worked for advertising agencies as a graphic designer and creative director. He has been in charge of hundreds of campaigns and projects, winning a Fryderyk Music Award for the artwork on one of his album covers. What is more, Mariusz is an experienced musician with more than a dozen records under his belt. Telehorse allows him to pull all his skills together and independently develop computer games. A glyph is a simple, drawn image made of thick, high-contrast lines that animates as if drawn and is associated with words and contexts. Glyphs are the building blocks of the global visual language being created with the TruGlyph app. Like any language elements, glyphs require some rules. These visual rules give glyphs uniformity when used together regardless of the source or use. These rules are built into the TruGlyph app so users can focus on meanings and associations.
A key element for engaging viewers is movement and, therefore, glyphs must animate. TruGlyph emulates drawing by starting the animation with a blank screen and revealing the first line from one end to the other end, continuing until all lines in the glyph are visible. The new iPad App from Outback Touring Pty Ltd reduces this anxiety by providing an automated tool for friends and family of travellers to monitor their progress and keep updated of their current location. The Caravan Australia iPad App enables travellers to draw their route by dropping location pins with dates on a detailed map of Australia and then automatically share this, together with a daily journal, photos and their current location with family or friends. The app offer other useful features and information to keep travellers safe and informed on the road, even when out of mobile phone coverage.
Users of the App choose who they share their journeys with. The chosen friends and family can then view the routes, journals and current locations of selected 'friends' on their own App. Dave says "I found the offline mode that the Apps switch to when out of range of mobile phone networks really useful to navigate to remote campsites."
