New Appiness iOS app marketing guide could not come at a better time - Published on 02/15/16
Marketing is what separates the winners from the losers in the App Store. Plenty of free information on app marketing already exists, but the new Appiness guide from Bright Newt has given iOS developers a step-by-step plan for effectively marketing their apps without breaking the bank. With cost-per-acquisition numbers trending upward over the past six months, Appiness couldn't come at a better time. A how-to marketing guide for turning duds into profitable apps.
San Ramon, California - Several different ad and promotion networks publish their cost-per-install (CPI) numbers and have reported an upward trend in recent months. Chartboost, for example, showed an increase from $1.99 per install in March 2015 to $2.21 in October 2015. Fiksu reported a $1.79 CPI in January 2016. These numbers represent a huge problem for iOS developers.
To help address this problem, Bright Newt has released Appiness, an iOS app marketing guide. Appiness could not come at a better time. In June 2015 Distimo reported that an app needs 23,000 downloads per day to rise to the Top 50 Free Overall. This means that app developers face a $35,000 /day spend if they want to achieve any real visibility.
"Most iOS developers simply can't afford the development and ongoing optimization costs required to build a freemium app," said Kyle Hartman, Chief Newt at Bright Newt. "And once they do finish an app, they can't afford to advertise and can't get their revenue-per-install high enough to make back their money. It's a Catch-22."
The Bright Newt team wanted to give iOS developers a hand by providing a how-to marketing guide for turning duds into profitable apps. Plenty of free information on app marketing already exists, but Appiness provides step-by-step instructions for inexpensive tactics, as well as "true tales of appiness" from successful developers.
The Appiness guide comes in three different packages at three price points - Basic Appiness for $38, Extra Appiness for $69, and Total Appiness for $118. Each package comes with an assortment of other tools and resources, such as submission and launch day checklists, comprehensive spreadsheets of app review sites and app-related services, various templates, and interviews with thought leaders in the mobile industry.
The bottom line is this: Scrappy marketing is what separates the winners from the losers in the app business. If iOS developers make a unique, beautiful, and entertaining (or helpful) app, and then execute a smart, inexpensive marketing plan, then their apps will gain visibility, get more downloads, and make more money. Appiness is the winners' new, not-so-secret weapon.

MochaBlend C4D is a plug-in that runs inside Maxon Cinema 4D and gives users the ability to import mocha's 2D planar tracking data and roto-splines into a 3D solved workspace. This exciting new workflow can give amazingly quick results with a unique Single Plane Solver that takes the complexity out of traditional 3D camera tracking and match moving.

This workflow can be used for a variety of creative animation and effects purposes including 3D extrusions, particle simulations, and even 2D to 3D conversions.
While the product was in development, David Torno, the Technical Director of Ghost Town Media in Los Angeles took the software for a spin and created a compelling test project. First, David used mocha Pro to rotoscope footage of a woman running on a set. The mocha animated spline data was imported into C4D's 3D space using MochaBlend and then extruded to drive a particle system. The ability to place 2D roto-splines into a 3D project and interact with C4D elements is a unique time saving solution for animators and technical directors.

MochaBlend was designed to bridge the gap between 2D and 3D workflows and gives visual effects and motion graphics artists innovative new ways to marry computer graphics to video footage.
MochaBlend C4D is a plug-in that runs inside Maxon Cinema 4D and gives users the ability to import mocha's 2D planar tracking data and roto-splines into a 3D solved workspace. This exciting new workflow can give amazingly quick results with a unique Single Plane Solver that takes the complexity out of traditional 3D camera tracking and match moving.
According to Good Spirit founder, Chris Barrett, the Imaginer team was quite responsive to supporting his efforts on this new workflow, "I approached Imagineer CEO John-Paul Smith at SIGGRAPH a few years ago to discuss my ideas. I was fascinated by the possibility of creating new ways to convert 2D tracks from mocha into 3D motion inside applications like C4D. MochaBlend wouldn't exist without the encouragement I received from the Imagineer team."
The MochaBlend C4D plug-in was recently awarded "Best in Class" by 3D World Magazine. Reviewer Mike Griggs said, "MochaBlend is potentially game-changing, the plug-in offers a way to create objects which would otherwise take weeks" and "C4D motion graphics and particle systems can be added to a tracked null with a only couple of clicks."

Convert Animated Splines to 3D
Beyond the 2D to 3D tracking implementation, MochaBlend C4D also introduces a new workflow to convert 2D roto-splines into 3D geometry with animated camera mapping. This workflow can be used for a variety of creative animation and effects purposes including 3D extrusions, particle simulations, and even 2D to 3D conversions.
While the product was in development, David Torno, the Technical Director of Ghost Town Media in Los Angeles took the software for a spin and created a compelling test project. First, David used mocha Pro to rotoscope footage of a woman running on a set. The mocha animated spline data was imported into C4D's 3D space using MochaBlend and then extruded to drive a particle system. The ability to place 2D roto-splines into a 3D project and interact with C4D elements is a unique time saving solution for animators and technical directors.
MochaBlend C4D plug-in is now available for Windows or Mac OS-X for $250 USD. The plug-in can be purchased on its own or included as a special upgrade* for After Effects users who wish to upgrade the Adobe Creative Cloud bundled mocha AE to mocha Plus or mocha Pro.
