Flemington, New Jersey, November 18, 2016 - Children's Technology Review (CTR) Expert Reviewers are a small team of individuals who have been chosen to provide objective opinions on the latest interactive products. There are different types of experts. Content experts have expertise with a topic like music or math; while designers may come from an education or technology point of view. Expert Reviewers offer external validity to the reviews in Children's Technology Review Exchange (CTREX) and it's ever expanding database.
Current experts include:
Dr. Warren Buckleitner is an educational psychologist who has been a preschool, elementary and college teacher. He is the founding editor of Children's Technology Review. He speaks at education and library conferences, and contributes content to many books and publications, including a decade of children's tech coverage for the New York Times. He holds a degree in elementary education from Central Michigan University (Cum Laude), an MA in early childhood education from Pacific Oaks College, and a doctorate in educational psychology from Michigan State University. He coordinates the KAPi prize at CES and the BolognaRagazzi Digital Prize at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. In 2000, he started Dust or Magic.
Dr. Katie Paciga is an Assistant Professor of Education at Columbia College Chicago and CTR's newest Expert Reviewer. She is also the first ever Early Career Research Fellow of the TEC Center at the Erikson Institute and the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Media at St.Vincent College (with generous funding from the Grable Foundation). She holds a PhD in Literacy, Language, and Culture (University of Illinois at Chicago, 2011) and is a licensed elementary school educator as well. Her teaching and research interests focus on the social, emotional, cultural, and cognitive bases for language and literacy development, with a focus on the ways in which educational policies, human interaction, individual interests, printed media (i.e., children's literature) and interactive media (i.e., web- and app-based games and tools) contribute to language and literacy teaching and learning.
Matt DiMatteo is an Adjunct Professor at TCNJ where he teaches game design. He has a Master's Degree from Carnegie Melon University's Entertainment Technology Center and specializes in console and handheld software.
