MacPaw announces upcoming release of Hider 2 - Encrypt Your Private Data - Published on 03/27/14

MacPaw Inc. announces the upcoming release of Hider 2, an app for Mac OS X that gives users the ability to hide and encrypt their private data. The simplicity of the app doesn't take away from its security. Hider 2 was developed to be the new standard of safe, digital storage. The application aims to alleviate the typical faults of hiding things, specifically, the ability to keep track of what was hidden and where it is located. Hider 2 will be available on April 2nd, 2014.

Santa Clara, California - MacPaw Inc. has officially announced the upcoming release of Hider 2, an app for Mac OS X that gives users the ability to hide and encrypt their private data. This new release is a two-year rebuild of their previous file-hiding app, Hider.

"With the rising need to hide and protect one's confidential data, Hider 2 has arrived to level the playing field for all Mac users by making data encryption simple," said Oleksandr Kosovan, CEO of MacPaw. "Now, both power and non-power users can securely hide and encrypt confidential data on their Macs just by selecting a file and clicking, 'Hide.'"

The simplicity of the app doesn't take away from its security. It was developed by MacPaw to be the new standard of safe, digital storage. The app is password protected, meaning no one can get into the app without the user's password. Once logged in, hiding is as easy as dragging a file or folder to the app itself and selecting "hide." Encryption is just as easy, because each file, when hidden, is automatically AES-256 encrypted. Users can then toggle between hidden (encrypted) and visible on the app's main dashboard with just a click.

Hider 2 also aims to alleviate the typical faults of hiding things, specifically, the ability to keep track of what was hidden and where it is located. With Hider 2, the fear of losing anything, especially things that have values in "bytes," is a thing of the past. It has an array of organizational features that make keeping track of hidden data a piece of cake. It has: Mavericks Tags compatibility, the ability to hide entire folders, the ability for users to create custom groups, and in-app notetaking called Secure Notes.

The app also has several nifty accessibility features, like global shortcut keys, a Menu Bar Assistant, and Finder integration. Users can also hide and encrypt their data onto an external drive if they wish. External drive support allows for complete disconnection of data, giving the user an extra layer of security.

Hider 2 will be available on April 2nd, 2014, for the price of $19.99. Users must have Mac OS X 10.8 or higher installed and 30MB of free disk space.
