Below the image on the card is an auditory recording of a native pronunciation of the Chinese word. Following the recording is text for Simplified and Traditional Chinese. This app combines the user friendly system of flashcards with the appealing use of imagery. With the combination of these two features the user is likely to learn basic Chinese very easily.

Andrew Miles, a member of the application production team stated, "This app is intended to attract a younger audience or those who would like to learn basic Chinese. Once the user has released the first phase, they will open the doors to 5 other flashcard applications." The other applications cover Animals, Fruits, Color, Numbers and Transportation.

With each flashcard series the user will have a study mode featuring visual, auditory, and text aides. To be more specific, the flashcards of the study mode present the user with an image. Directly beneath the image is an auditory recording of a native pronunciation of the Chinese word. Following the recording is text for both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Once the user has become familiar and confident with the words of that flashcard series, they can choose to proceed to the test mode. The user must first select their test topic and they will then be presented with a question and answer.

The way the test mode is set-up is to shuffle the way the questions and answers will be presented. For example, one test flashcard may present an image as the question and a set of Chinese words which you need to match to the image as the answer. Then a second test question may have a Chinese word as the question and a set of images which you need to match to the Chinese word as the answer.

This app also allows the user to be able to track their progress in both the study and test modes. This progress chart shows you the percentage of words that are new, need work, or that you have mastered. The OnDemandWorld Company has set-up this app to provide users with results.

With over 500,000 users of these Chinese learning apps; OnDemandWorld focuses on making these apps clear and easy to use. The flashcard system allows the user to easily move from card to card. The benefit is that the user can choose how long they would like to focus on each card to get familiar with the text and pronunciation.
