Air Stylus Offers A New Way To Draw On Your Creative Power - Published on 06/19/14
Six-year-old app maker Avatron Software has launched Air Stylus, a new app that lets artists use an iPad or Android tablet as a wireless drawing surface for computer-based graphics software programs like Photoshop or Aperture. With Air Stylus and a pressure-sensitive pen, users can draw directly on the iPad's screen into most computer-based creative apps that support pressure sensitivity. Air Stylus is compatible with 30+ apps and the top 3 pressure-sensitive pens.
Portland, Oregon - Six-year-old bootstrapped startup Avatron Software has launched a new app called Air Stylus that lets artists use an iPad or Android tablet as a wireless drawing surface for Mac or PC-based graphics software programs such as Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) or Apple(R) Aperture(R).
With Air Stylus and a pressure-sensitive pen, users can draw directly on the iPad's screen into almost any computer-based creative software that supports pressure sensitivity. Air Stylus is designed for artists and photographers, enabling them to focus on their art in a way that was previously only possible with expensive additional hardware.
"Yesterday, Adobe announced several new products that acknowledge that its customers use their iPads as drawing tools in a professional setting," says Dave Howell, Avatron's CEO. "We designed Air Stylus to let artists use the computer-based workflow they're already familiar with, the elegant convenience of drawing on an iPad, and the finesse of all the best pressure-sensitive pens."
Air Stylus will be compatible with Adobe's new stylus, and was built from the ground up to be compatible with Photoshop(R), Illustrator(R), Lightroom(R), and more than 30 other creative apps that support pressure sensitivity.
"We tried all the drawing apps on the iPad and found that they forced us into cumbersome workflows," Howell continues. "While some offer a good creative experience, artists and designers will continue to rely on the processing power of their computer-based software. We knew we could come up with a way for them to have both."
How Air Stylus works:
After purchasing the app on their iPads, users install the free Air Display host software on their computers, then simply tap to launch the app on their iPads. Once the wireless connection is made from the computer, users may launch their graphic design program, drag its window to the iPad's screen, activate their pressure-sensitive pen and begin to draw directly on the iPad's display.
Device Requirements:
* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iOS 7.0 or later
* 38.3 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Air Stylus 1.0 is $19.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category. The Android version is coming soon to Google Play.
