German software company VERBI Software GmbH recently published a significant update for their qualitative data analysis software MAXQDA for Mac. The update adds a new feature called "MAXDictio", which is a module allowing users to conduct quantitative text analysis procedures alongside with their qualitative analysis. The tool illustrates the prevalent vocabulary and topics in the data. MAXDictio is embedded in the extended software version MAXQDAplus.

Berlin, Germany - German software company VERBI Software GmbH recently published a significant update for their qualitative data analysis software MAXQDA for Mac. The update adds a new feature called "MAXDictio", which is a module allowing users to conduct quantitative text analysis procedures alongside with their qualitative analysis. It is embedded in the extended software version MAXQDAplus.

MAXDictio analyzes word frequencies for marked passages, text documents or text groups. Users can export and import dictionaries from/into MS Office programs, build their own word-based dictionaries, analyze texts by specific criteria and filter the results by numeric data. The tool illustrates the prevalent vocabulary and topics in the data as well as similarities or contrasts between different cases or units. Outcomes of the frequency analysis can be exported to MS Office programs and statistical software packages like SPSS.

MAXQDA is a software for qualitative data analysis used widely in different scientific disciplines like social sciences, anthropology, market research, and more. The software is available for Windows and Mac OS X, with VERBI Software being the first company to offer a native Mac version of a state-of-the-art qualitative data analysis software package. Users use MAXQDA to analyze different types of unstructured data like text documents, newspaper articles, images, and video or audio files. Relevant segments can be tagged with codes and searched through the use of filters and formulas. It is also possible to import results from big surveys.
