California based Mento, Inc. today introduces Mento 1.0 for iOS, its new mobile application built to take advantage of the hardware shift occurring in smartphones. Mento combines this with a popular and contemporary method of sharing. Users take a photo with the back camera of their surroundings and what they see and another with the front camera, a selfie. Both images are seamlessly stitched together, the user then sets a timer, adds an optional caption and sends the Mento to a friend or a few.

Los Altos, California - Mento, Inc. today is proud to announce the launch of its new mobile application built to take advantage of the hardware shift occurring in smartphones. Mento combines this with a popular and contemporary method of sharing. This new application is offered exclusively through the App Store and is now widely available to all in the U.S. On Mento, users capture a moment as it happens in real time.

Users take a photo with the back camera of their surroundings and what they see and another with the front camera, a selfie. Both images are seamlessly stitched together, the user then sets a timer, adds an optional caption and sends the Mento to a friend or a few. Mento has group creation and a "Send to All" button for simple one-click distribution of Mentos. Recipients can view the Mentos they are sent based on the set time before it disappears forever - unless they take a screenshot.

"As millennials, we view the internet as an extension of our lives versus a destination for our content. We've never grown up where the internet and instant access to information didn't exist, so the way in which we think about the internet and how we utilize it is fundamentally different than previous generations." said Ativ Patel, CEO and co-founder of Mento. "Our generation takes more photos, specifically more selfies, than any other generation in history. We wanted an experience that provides context to these selfies. Inversely, we want to see our friends' faces to go along with typical photos taken with the back camera on smartphones. We also understand the pitfalls of sharing content that lasts forever and that can be seen by all. We prefer to control our content and share ephemerally, as ephemerality emulates our real life experiences and conversations. We created Mento to be as straight forward as possible to reduce cognitive overhead and the paradox of choice. This
frictionless creation allows users to tell a story with just 3 clicks. We are focused on the experience of conversations and want to create the best possible experience for our users. It's more about intimate communication versus a representation of your best self. It's authentic and real."
