Cologne, Germany - tagtraum industries today is proud to announce beaTunes 4, a major update to their popular music library management utility for Mac OS X and Windows. beaTunes excels at fixing ID3 tags and automatically calculating musical key and tempo - features valued by music enthusiasts, DJs, and athletes alike.

Version 4 features not only completely revised algorithms and an overhauled user interface, but also a sophisticated new music player, capable of exploiting automatic song segmentation and similarity, thus allowing easy intra-song navigation.

"Many modern pop songs follow a very rigid structure. beaTunes can detect this structure and visualize it for the listener," says Hendrik Schreiber, founder of tagtraum industries. "With this information available, instead of jumping in predefined 10sec steps or randomly searching with a slider, you can jump to the next song segment or even a similar sounding part. I like to call this 'semantic navigation'. If all you want, is to find the chorus, this is gold."

Furthermore, by analyzing songs, beaTunes is capable of building playlists of similar sounding music. It can detect various types of metadata, such as beats-per-minute (BPM), missing artist or album information, identify song segments, detect language of the lyrics, musical key, as well as song color. Besides automatic playlist generation, all of this data also supports users when building playlists manually. In its new song transition column for example, beaTunes provides visual clues for potentially bad song transitions.

Naturally, this works better with consistent tags. beaTunes' inspection feature makes it quick and easy to find metadata inconsistencies in music libraries, ensuring that artist names are always spelled the same way, artwork is embedded in audio files, compilations are marked appropriately, rarely used genre names are replaced, etc. Of course beaTunes can also identify duplicates. Unlike many other dupe finders, version 4 does not only identify duplicates based on textual tags, but can also take acoustic fingerprints into account. This allows for identification of songs that sound the same, even if their names are completely different.

beaTunes is a must for the serious audiophile who wants to be in charge of fixing his collection's metadata. At the same time, beaTunes is invaluable for any athlete who wants to select music based on tempo. Aerobics, spinning, running are just a few of the possible applications.
