Use your Galaxy Note as a wireless graphics tablet for your computer - Published on 08/13/14

Portland based Avatron Software today launches Air Stylus for Galaxy Note, a new app that lets artists use the Galaxy Note tablet with S Pen as a wireless drawing surface for Mac-based graphics software. Air Stylus creates a pressure sensitive second screen for your computer. It was designed for artists and photographers, enabling them to focus on their art in a way that was previously only possible with additional hardware costing hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Portland, Oregon - Avatron Software has launched Air Stylus for Galaxy Note, a new app that lets artists use the Galaxy Note tablet with S Pen as a wireless drawing surface for Mac-based graphics software such as Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) or Apple(R) Aperture(R) (Windows support coming very soon).

With Air Stylus and the S Pen that ships with every Galaxy Note tablet or smart phone, users can draw or paint directly on the screen into almost any computer-based creative software that supports pressure sensitivity. Air Stylus is designed for artists and photographers, enabling them to focus on their art in a way that was previously only possible with additional hardware costing hundreds or thousands of dollars.

"The Galaxy Note is an ideal match for Air Stylus," says Dave Howell, Avatron's CEO. "iPad owners currently need to purchase a third-party pressure sensitive pen to use Air Stylus, but Samsung's S Pen offers better performance, and ships for free with every Galaxy Note."

Originally launched for the iPad, Air Stylus was built from the ground up to be compatible with Photoshop(R), Illustrator(R), Lightroom(R), and more than a dozen other creative apps that support pressure sensitivity.

"We tried all the drawing apps on the iPad and found that they forced us into cumbersome workflows," says Howell. "We knew we could do better. While some offer a good creative experience, artists and designers rely on the processing power of their computer-based software.

"We designed Air Stylus to let artists use the computer-based workflow they're familiar with, the elegant convenience of a tablet, and the finesse of pressure sensitivity."

How Air Stylus works:
After purchasing the app on the tablet, users install the free Air Display host software on their computers, then simply tap to launch the app. Once the wireless connection is made from the computer, users launch their graphic design program, drag its window to the tablet's screen, and begin to draw directly on the tablet's display with the S Pen.

Pricing and Availability:
The Air Stylus client app is available for $14.99 (USD) on the Google Play Store, with the iOS version available on iTunes.
