Toronto based Wattpad has announced Wattpad App for iOS 8. Today view widgets will let readers and writers access key information right from inside the Notification Center. With one swipe, writers can see increases in reads, comments, and votes related to their stories. Readers can also quickly find the last story they read, as well as stories in their library that have recently been updated from the Notification Center without needing to open the Wattpad App.
Toronto, Canada - Wattpad, the world's largest community of readers and writers, has announced the updated Wattpad App for iOS 8. Today view widgets will let readers and writers access key information right from the Today widget in the Notification Center. With one swipe, writers can see increases in reads, comments, and votes related to their stories. Readers can also quickly find the last story they read, as well as stories in their library that have recently been updated from the Notification Center without needing to open the Wattpad App.
Wattpad for iOS 8 will also include a simple way for both readers and writers to pick up where they left off, even when using multiple devices. With this new Continuity feature, writers can start a draft on an iPad and then switch to their iPhone or iPod touch for a smooth and uninterrupted writing flow. For these users, the Wattpad App will always open right back to the last section they were working on. For readers, the app will automatically highlight the last portion of text read so they can jump right back into the story with no interruptions.
"We're putting readers and writers first with this latest update," said Wattpad's Head of Product Tarun Sachdeva. "We've designed a simple and beautiful storytelling experience that gives users quick access to the things that matter most to them."
Wattpad's mobile and social storytelling experience is resonating around the world and more than 35 million people have joined the community with a Wattpadder in nearly every country of the world. People are spending a whopping 9 billion minutes a month on Wattpad with each user spending 274 minutes a month on average reading and sharing stories. To-date more than 70 million uploads have been shared on Wattpad, that's 24 hours of reading posted every single minute.
Wattpad also recently integrated multimedia into its popular iOS apps. This latest move complements the platform's rich text-based storytelling experience and cements Wattpad as the best place to read and share stories. Now millions of Wattpadders can watch videos, see images, and listen to music as part of their reading experience. Wattpad plans to roll out a new mobile web profile design in the next few weeks, as well.
