Welsh independent studio, Fingerpunch games, has launched their Kickstarter campaign for Zed Defence. The game features a detailed upgrade and customisation system giving them increased effectiveness. It also features a talent tree system which can be reset at any point during the game. Zed Defence received unanimous acclaim at the recent Wales Game Dev Show 2014. Zed Defence is scheduled for release January 2015 on PC platforms.

Newport, United Kingdom - Welsh independent studio Fingerpunch Games launched their Kickstarter campaign to help fund the further development of 2D tower defence side-scroller, Zed Defence. Zed Defence is an addictive, fast-paced action/adventure that puts you in charge of a military task force charged with protecting a clean-up operation. Zombies are spreading from increased levels of toxicity, so a cleaning company has been called in to cleanse the environment. You are tasked with repelling the zombie invasion using traps and weapons.

Zed Defence features a detailed upgrade and customisation system, where acquired traps can be further developed and improved, giving them increased effectiveness. The game also features a talent tree system which can be reset at any point during the game. With a fully featured Campaign, Wave and Endurance mode, as well as other planned variants, Zed Defence will be a chunky title for a small price-tag.

Although development is coming along very well - a pre-alpha demo is available to download and start playing right away - there are plenty more features to be added. The Kickstarter has a variety of pledges, such as improved art, combinable traps, further modes and online multiplayer. The team at Fingerpunch also hope to bring the game to Wii U, Playstation 4, Xbox One and all mobile and tablet devices through campaign stretch goals.

Zed Defence received unanimous acclaim at the recent Wales Game Dev Show 2014. It was, by far, the most popular showing from Fingerpunch Games and received some amazing feedback from the Welsh Developer community, which partly inspired the team to Kickstart the project.

Adam Griffiths, Owner and Creative Director of Fingerpunch Games, is an experienced game developer having worked at Rebellion Studios and on titles such as the original Dear Esther and Cosmic Sunder: Elements. He had this to say about the launch of the Kickstarter. "The team and I are really excited about the start of our new campaign for Zed Defence. We've been working incredibly hard behind the scenes, but have launched this Kickstarter to deliver on all our intended goals and aspirations. We really hope everyone enjoys the demo and gets behind the project."

Zed Defence is scheduled for release January 2015 on PC platforms.
