Wild Picker: Wild mushroom hunting at your fingertips - Published on 01/28/15

BulbLab announces Wild Picker, its new game for iOS and Android devices. It is a simple arcade game in which the player has to put as many gifts of the forest in the basket. To make the task easier and collect all the items visible on the screen, the player can shake the iPhone to activate an earthquake. This tool can prove tricky if a toadstool is not visible. Putting it into the basket creates momentary hallucinations and takes away some points.

Warawa, Poland - Can picking the gifts of the forest be not only exciting but also possible when on the bus or queuing at the post office? We'll get to know that soon - thanks to the Wild Picker game. The virtual mushroom picker is the first project of BulbLab, an independent game developers group. The game is free for the iPhone and Android devices.

Wild Picker is a simple arcade game in which the player has to put as many gifts of the forest, i.e. mushrooms and fruits, as possible in the basket. "Our goal was to create a visually appealing game with an original theme that would fully use all of the possibilities offered by the telephone as a tool of entertainment," says Grzegorz Norberciak, the originator of the project.

Wild Picker is a game dedicated to smartphones that uses gestures involving many fingers - in contrast to many other mobile games that require clicking with only one finger (as a result of transferring the interface philosophy from desktop computers).

The virtual mushroom picker has more advantages. "Much attention has been paid to the graphics because we wanted the game to have its own visual language and stand out among stock solutions popular on mobile platforms. We have also spent a lot of time searching for the appropriate level of difficulty to make the game offer an enjoyable resistance, but on the other hand, we tried to avoid undue complications of the rules," adds Grzegorz.

The basic rules of the game are simple - but over time, new discoveries, weapons and modes become available. The basic gesture used in the game is that of throwing objects into the basket (dragging the finds in its direction gives them momentum). To make the task easier and collect all the items visible on the screen, the player can shake the iphone to activate an earthquake. This tool can prove tricky if we do not notice a toadstool. Putting it into the basket creates momentary hallucinations and takes away some points.

"If we see a large grouping of collectibles, we can also use electricity. By making a three-finger gesture, you can build a power line between the items to collect all mushrooms and fruits directly to the basket. The most valuable find is a boletus, but you can also find a birch boletus, chestnuts, acorns, bilberries, blackberries and wild strawberries," explains one of the creators of the game.
