ShanTou, China - Kong Audio presents BianZhong BZ Bells App for iPad, a sample-based app capturing the captivating set of ancient Chinese bronze Chime-bells lost in time till a few decades ago. The biggest bronze chime-bells set ever found in China, ZengHouYi's (Marquis Yi) BianZhong (Chime-bells) has become a sensational Chinese national treasure since its excavation in 1978. Created about 2400 years ago, its unique oval design made each bell to have two tones. BianZhong Chime-bells were used for ritual and festival activities in the court of the feudal lords and kings during the Autumn and Spring/Warring States period (5th Century BC).

* Twelve-tone scale:
The Chinese music has always been thought to be Pentatonic-centered. Marquis Yi's Chime Bells curiously offers a full 12-tone scale, even though it's still Pentatonic-centered. With the 12-tone scale, modern music can be easily played with this Chime Bell.

* Two tones per bell:
The bronze BianZhong are constituted of set of 65 bronze chime-bells(including the one given by the king of Chu) mounted at three levels of a wooden frame and divided into eight groups. Due to the bell's conclave/roof tile-shape, each bell can generate two different pitches depending on striking the center or on the side. The notes between each other are either major or minor three.

Sampled on-site at HuBei Chime-bells Orchestra, the serene and timeless sound of BZ Bells transports you right back to the Chinese palace at the beginning of the Chinese civilization.
