San Francisco, California - Monkimun, an award-winning educational technology company that makes language learning for toddlers and kids fun, today announced that Monki Shake It, its unique language learning app for children 2-6, has won a prestigious National Parenting Publications Awards silver award for product innovation, attention to quality, and educational value. This award recognizes Monki Shake It as a standout among other available software for children.

"NAPPA's recognition for Monki Shake It is more than just a seal of approval. Monki Shake It was carefully judged and identified as 'best in its class' by NAPPA's expert judges, independent industry experts who have extensive professional experience working with children and parents, as well as parents and children themselves," said Marieta Viedma, co-founder and chief product officer at Monkimun.

Monkimun's technology uniquely targets children ages two-to-six, during the time when their brains are at their most flexible and cognitively suited to learning a second language. Ample proof shows that becoming multilingual at an early age can feed into lifelong success. Multilinguals tend to score better on standardized tests, especially in math, reading, and vocabulary, are more perceptive to their surroundings, and therefore better at focusing in on important information while weeding out misleading information. In addition, multilinguals tend to have enhanced memory, planning, and multi-tasking skills, use more of their brains than monolinguals, and even outperform monolinguals on creativity tests.

"Parents are under pressure to give their children growth opportunities that feed their kids' lifelong success. So, introducing fun, mobile age-appropriate language learning games that help their children become fluent in a second language early on not only helps feed this success, but is really fun for and well accepted by the kids," said Viedma. "All content developed by Monkimun's educational experts is specifically designed to reinforce a young child's mother tongue or introduce sounds and structure of a second language, a very important step in being able to speak it fluently.

Monki Shake It has four lessons disguised as mini-games and one to evaluate acquired skills. Children are exposed to different grammatical structures, questions, commands and new vocabulary according to the topic of each one of the lessons, including numbers, musical instruments, animals, toys, means of transport and weather. Each lesson can be played in two different modes, tapping or shaking the device, making learning possible for even the youngest players. Monki Shake It is available in three languages: English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and can be downloaded from the Apple Store, Amazon, and Google play.
