Seeds To Plants App Helps Early Years Kids to Learn How To Grow Plants - Published on 06/08/15

Storm Educational's Seeds to Plants app for the iPad introduces children to how plants survive, and what happens to them under different weather conditions. Sunflower seeds are planted in a garden, and children choose the weather each day to make the plants grow. If they choose the right weather, the plants will develop; but if they choose too much sun (and no rain), the plants will dry out and eventually die; or if they choose snow for more than one day, the plants will die due to the cold!

Bath, United Kingdom - Storm Educational is happy to announce the immediate availability of Seeds to Plants app for the iPad. In the app, sunflower seeds are planted in a garden, and children need to choose the weather each day to make the plants grow. If they choose the right weather, children will be able to see sunflower plants developing; but if they choose too much sun (and no rain), the plants will dry out and eventually die; or if they choose snow for more than one day, the plants will die due to the cold!

Children will be able to view a chart showing the choices made on each day. There is a reporting option to enable children's progress to be checked by a teacher or a parent. Seeds to Plants includes on-screen instructions, audio help and the ability to include a "measuring stick," which will enable the height of the plants to be measured each day. The app supports both English and Spanish, which has the additional benefit of helping children with their second language!

Seed to Plants is suitable for children 6 - 8 years old, and is a great way to introduce children to how plants survive and what happens to them under different weather conditions. It is the perfect way of introducing the concepts of growing plants and getting kids out in the garden!

With all the interest in getting children interested in science, and with the New Generation Science Standards being adopted across different states, it's a great way of allowing children to experiment and find out about plants. It's a lesson that children can build on in the real world. If children plant sunflower seeds for themselves in plastic cups, they will learn to expect to see shoots, leaves and flowers if they keep watering the plants; and will know that they must not plant the seeds outside if it is too cold!
