Cambridge, United Kingdom - MacVector, Inc. is proud to announce the release of MacVector Cloning Edition for Mac OS X, a lower cost package aimed solely at users who only need to design and document clone construction. MacVector Cloning Edition provides these users with a highly affordable package. MacVector Pro and MacVector Cloning Edition are desktop sequence analysis applications running on the Macintosh.

The product, previously known as "MacVector", has been re-branded as MacVector Pro. While MacVector Pro has a huge amount of functionality, user feedback has indicated that many do not require access to all the features available and are quite happy with basic sequence manipulation and documentation functions. MacVector Cloning Edition allows you to design primers, store them in the primer database, scan sequences against the primer database, digest, store and ligate multiple DNA fragments into cloning vectors with full documentation of each ligated fragment. The graphical maps have the same highly customizable feature rich annotated sequences with a sequence overview as MacVector Pro and it will also export publication quality maps.

A license of MacVector Cloning Edition is perpetual rather than requiring an annual subscription. It also comes with a full year of free updates. Purchasers of MacVector Cloning Edition are eligible to a cost-only upgrade to MacVector Pro at any time with no penalty for starting out with MacVector Cloning Edition.

With the availability of the MacVector Cloning Edition, there is now a MacVector product to meet all molecular biologists needs: MacVector Free, MacVector Cloning Edition, MacVector Pro and MacVector Pro with Assembler.

MacVector, Inc's CEO, Dr. Kevin Kendall, said "Many users say they 'don't need all of the bells and whistles' of MacVector Pro and we have been asked many times if we have an application for limited use, as some users find it hard to justify the cost in their budget or grant application. As usual we've listened to these users. MacVector Cloning Edition contains all the user needs for digestion, ligation, restriction mapping, downloading sequences from Entrez with the usual easy to use interface. Yet the price is considerably less."

System Requirements:
* Requires OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite
* 64-bit processor
