DEVONthink 2.8.9 supports folder tags, makes capturing smarter - Published on 02/12/16
DEVONtechnologies, LLC has updated all editions of its intelligent information and document manager DEVONthink as well as the smart notebook DEVONnote. DEVONthink and DEVONnote help users classify and organize documents effortlessly with artificial intelligence. DEVONthink 2.8.9 supports folders tags when importing or exporting, names captured items smarter, and adds better support for fullscreen window mode. All editions fix a number of issues too.
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - DEVONtechnologies, LLC has updated all editions of its intelligent information and document manager DEVONthink as well as the smart notebook DEVONnote. Version 2.8.9 of DEVONthink and DEVONnote now import Finder tags of folders too. DEVONthink supports folder tags also for indexed folders. When exporting, both applications assign tags created in their databases to folders, too.
The maintenance update also lets users make document windows fullscreen on OS X El Capitan. DEVONthink 2.8.9 supports dragging images to formatted notes. It also names captured items smarter, e.g. images, bookmarks, or notes. Formatted notes are based on simple HTML with embedded images. They are portable and can be viewed on all operating systems using a web browser.
Sharing data with e.g. Tinderbox 6.4 is now more compatible. DEVONthink Pro Office's built-in web sharing asks less often for passwords and reloads data more intelligently. Data entered into the Take Note panel is no longer lost when the window or the whole application is accidentally closed. Finally, both DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.8.9 offer an option to quickly restore the fonts preferences to factory settings. The updates also fix issues and improve reliability and performance.
"Some people prefer folders, some prefer tags. Basically files and folders are just different presentations of the same information. DEVONthink started offering tags a long time ago. And because 'no data is left behind' is one of our main goals, DEVONthink has supported OS X tags since Apple introduced them with Mavericks. Version 2.8.9 now removes remaining friction by adding import and export of folder tags, too," comments Eric Bohnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies.
