RAMS Manager for iOS - Risk Assessment and Method Statement Creator - Published on 04/12/16

appxs limited announces RAMS Manager 1.0, their risk assessment app for iOS devices. Increasing a company's safety record is of extreme importance to corporate success. Most business have to create risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) on a daily basis. RAMS Manager takes the pain out of producing professional risk assessments and method statements in seconds, increasing a company's health and safety record whilst reducing the cost of producing the safety documentation.

AIRDRIE, United Kingdom - appxs limited is proud to announce the release and immediate availability of RAMS Manager 1.0, their risk assessment app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. In business today, safety is paramount. Gone are the days, and rightly so, when it was seen as "unfortunate" because there was a fatality down at the local steelworks. Everybody has a legal duty to ensure that they comply with health and safety laws, whether we are the owners of the facility where the work is due to take place or we are the person responsible for completing the task.

One of our main tools to keep ourselves and others safe is the adoption of RAMS (risk assessment and method statement) using RAMS we review the task at hand and identify the job hazards, we then look to firstly eliminate (or reduce if elimination is not possible) the risk to an acceptable level before the job proceeds.

The use of RAMS is universal, however, the production of RAMS can be costly. Typically, businesses will use word processor packages to produce the documentation. Sometimes, we think more about the formatting, cutting and pasting to get the document right rather than concentrating on the actual hazards involved in the task. We're sure that everybody would agree that producing RAMS should be more about focusing on the job hazards, and eliminating or reducing risk, rather than focusing on document preparation.

With the above in mind we set about developing RAMS Manager, an app for iOS devices that would allow our users to improve their company's safety record whilst reducing the cost of RAMS preparation. We started by thinking what RAMS Manager should be:

* Easy user interface to allow users to quickly understand the app.
* Easily customisable to the user's business.
* An app that would reduce the time taken to produce RAMS.
* An app that would allow the user to focus more on the job hazards and elimination of risk rather than the software used to complete the documentation.
* An app that would follow best practices in regards to the production of RAMS.

When we look at company RAMS there are so many different templates that different companies work to, therefore, one of our first tasks was to think about a suitable template that we would use. In order to achieve this we looked at the Health and Safety Executive's guide on completing risk assessments. Using this guide we came up with our template to define:

* What are the hazards?
* Who might be harmed and how?
* What are you already doing?
* What further action is necessary?
* Action by whom?
* Action by when?

RAMS Manager comes with a database of hazards, each of these hazards can be expanded to show the hazard details. These details can be edited to reflect the various situations that users will face when completing their jobs in different challenging environments. For example, work may be completed in an environment where the user's client demands that all users wear hi-viz vests.

All hazards can be stored in a hazard database. Users can use the app to simply focus on their job and select hazards that are relevant to their particular task. If the user spots a hazard that they don't currently have in their database, they can simply add the hazard to the database and it will be safely stored for future use.

Once hazards have been selected the user can then complete their method statement. To make the creation of method statements easier we incorporated a method statement template database where users could safely store templates. When you think about various work locations and site procedures very often the method statement will include various steps that are repetitive. For example, we may be required to sign onto a permit to work, we may be required to wear certain PPE, we may be required to perform a toolbox talk with our working party members. All of these steps can be stored as a basis of a template before we add the additional steps that the task in hand may require.

Another feature we have incorporated into the app is the ability to save completed RAMS into a database. This feature is useful for maintenance companies that perform the same jobs on a periodic basis. They can simply review the RAMS and update if required.

We hope you appreciate our work and we would love you to try RAMS Manager free. Try it now free from iTunes and please let us know what you think?
