KeyCue 9.4 improves folder view and third-party app compatibility - Published on 08/13/19

Ergonis Software today released KeyCue 9.4, a maintenance update for the company's highly acclaimed productivity tool. KeyCue is a versatile assistant, which presents frequently used elements on cue, such as keyboard shortcuts, local files and folders, and URL collections. Now distributed as a notarized disk image, version 9.4 enhances the folder view feature and improves overall stability as well as compatibility with certain third-party apps.

Perg, Austria - Ergonis Software today released KeyCue 9.4, a maintenance update for the company's highly acclaimed productivity tool. The first version of KeyCue was a mere keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. Its original purpose was to help Mac users to learn and use keyboard shortcuts. Since then, it has become a versatile assistant, which presents frequently used elements on cue, such as keyboard shortcuts, Emoji characters, local files and folders, and URL collections.

One of the new features of KeyCue 9 is the folder view, which displays the contents of a particular folder and enables you to quickly launch items in this folder. You can use this feature to open documents that you work on (such as those that belong to your current project), launch applications, open help documents, and more - all from one central place.

KeyCue 9.4 enhances the folder view feature with a more reliable detection and handling of "packages" and by fixing a problem with subfolder structures. Furthermore, the new version improves overall stability as well as compatibility with certain third-party apps such as Visual Studio, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Photo. KeyCue 9.4 is now distributed as a notarized disk image, which can be mounted also on preview versions of macOS Catalina (beta 4 or newer). Visit Ergonis Software's website to learn more about the changes in this release and to download and try the new version.

The productivity paradox of keyboard shortcuts is that shortcuts were designed to increase productivity. However, productivity actually decreases when applications provide large numbers of shortcuts, in particular when the shortcuts are defined inconsistently across applications. KeyCue's elegantly simple solution is to display an instant overview of currently available keyboard shortcuts, application-specific menu shortcuts as well as system-wide hotkeys, and user-defined shortcut descriptions. Over time, KeyCue users will automatically remember frequently used shortcuts and start working more efficiently.

KeyCue has already received many awards, including a 4.5-Mice award from MacWorld magazine.
