Hilversum, Netherlands - Stolen Couch Games, the studio behind the upcoming Animal Crossing-like game Castaway Paradise for all mobile platforms, announced today the procurement of a Euro 250,000 in funding from private investors.

The company has hired additional staff over the last months and invested heavily in the development of their own free-to-play framework. The first game to use this framework is Castaway Paradise, an Animal Crossing-like game for iOS. Players can download the Castaway Paradise app starting October 9th from the website.

"This investment has helped us develop a game like none other available on the app stores. Castaway Paradise has proven itself during soft launch and will be released worldwide in October 2014," said Eric Diepeveen, CEO of Stolen Couch Games. "The free-to-play framework, which we worked on for almost 3 years, will allow us to create 3D cross-platform life simulator games in a fraction of the time it would otherwise take us. One in seven Nintendo 3DS owners has bought Animal Crossing for $40. We are bringing a similar experience, but free of charge to iOS & Android. The potential for our games is incredible and we are confident that we will become a top tier developer within the next two years."

Stolen Couch Games has chosen to invest heavily in subscription-based monetization for their upcoming games. "By utilizing subscriptions in addition to dual currency economies our games will have superior ARPPUs," said Selma Oors, CEO of Stolen Couch Games.

When Stolen Couch Games started out, we wanted to create great accessible mobile games. Since then we have released three games. Kids vs Goblins got great reviews and Ichi was downloaded over 700.000 times. However, we wanted Stolen Couch Games to become more than just another independent developer. We had to change our ways in order to compete with the best. We thought hard, consulted experts, prototyped a lot and finally we figured out what we had to do. We are going to create the next generation of multi-platform casual games! All Material and Software (C) Copyright 2014 Stolen Couch Games. All Rights Reserved.
