Florence, Italy - River Design has announced the release of Sparkle 1.1, a major upgrade to the best visual website builder on any platform. Sparkle seamlessly translates any text and graphic layout to a modern HTML5 website, and 1.1 builds on this very sophisticated engine by adding features for photographers, film directors, graphic designers and small businesses.
Sparkle gives Mac users a great way to build website visually, a natural fit for people who don't think in symbols and don't want to be constrained by predefined templates. Former iWeb users will find themselves at home with Sparkle, going well beyond what iWeb offered.
Sparkle doubles down on the features, offering high level constructs that go well beyond simple page layout. The new features include menus, image galleries, maps, social media and more. For example the menu system scales from manual set up to fully automatic with synchronization to the website structure, whereas image galleries not only generate @2x and @3x retina images, but they generate a full set with thumbnails, for each image, for each device. Maps are based on the industry standard ones from Google, Sparkle integrates easy address lookup and a number of preset color schemes.
Sparkle is just the first step in an ambitious journey to cherry pick the best web technologies and bring them to the amazing visual website building platform, creating something that's worth so much more than the sum of its parts. Sparkle is a native Mac app, with all the benefits that come from the privacy of local storage and full integration with the OS, from undo and drag and drop to full screen mode and document versions.
Pricing and Availability
Sparkle 1.1 is available immediately on the Mac App Store for $79.99 USD (Euro 69.99 / GBP 54.99), a free upgrade from 1.0. A free trial limited to 3 pages is available from its official website. Sparkle requires Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and is optimized for Yosemite.
